How about having it so if you go /afk either by typing it or inactivity that u are thrown outside the cantina, just as if you did not have permission, only allowing re-entry when no longer AFK. Just a suggestion.

I'd rather just have some sort of indication on the group menu of who's afk and ld, so the leader cantell and decide if they want to give them tha boot.

Would be great except for the fact that you can easily disable the auto-afk tag through the options menu. Most likely it would just encourage more people to do this effectivly making our new ingore afk speach option worthless.

I think it's a lousy idea! I want to be able to leave the game for a few hours if a have to do something else. I dont understand why you shouldn't be able to go AFK. I want to be a dancer but I don't want to have to watch a couple of characters dance all day long. After 10 minutes i get bored...

I'd recommend a reevaluation of becoming dancer, because if you want to do the places that pay the good money (at least it always was for me...I made a good living on planets like Dathomir and Endor), get ready to spend 30 minutes to 1-2 hours of seeing no one and still keep dancing, because you never know who will walk in.

I think this is a great idea for the NPC cantinas, taverns, hotels and theaters. For PC cantinas and theaters, should be an owner/admin selectable option.

Yes, really. If you're bored withdancing after 10 minutes, you're probablynot that interested in being a dancer. You say that you want to be a dancer, but in less than 10 minute sessions... errr... something isn't adding up here. Why do you want to be a dancer if you get bored with it so quickly?

I'd advise finding another profession that you actuallydo enjoy playing... after all, you're supposed to be having fun in the game, right? Find something that you like to do, and do that profession instead. Mismatches of playstyle and interest with profession is just not justification forhavingAFK systems, especially when AFKing does so much to hurt the gaming environment for others who do not get bored dancing after a few minutes, or hours, or months.

I enjoy being a dancer but do you think its fun to stare at the display doing nothing, saying nothing?

That's why you talk to the other entertainers and the customers that come in. My experience has taught me that you get more tips and recommendations for buffing if you talk to your potential customers.

Don't get me wrong though, before you hit master dancer, or musician, I am a firm believer that AFK grinding is ok for those two professions. I only do it afk when I'm sleeping at night. That's only because I need to sleep and I want to master dancer fast because I enjoy the master entertainer professions.

When you find yourself with nothing to do and nothing interesting to watch, you begin to make your own content. It's the beauty of belonging to a social profession We don't rely solely upon the dev-sponsored content to enjoy our time ingame.

Nope. Not at all. That's why when I was leveling dancer I tried new combinations, found ways to correct fordrift and control where I was on the floor, worked with my effects and dance changing combinations, practiced for smooth flo/base dance transitions, etc. It's also why I connected with my audiences, and learned what sorts of players wanted to talk and who didn't, and what they'd like to talk about. I found hundreds of ways to make the cantina experience more fun for myself, and for others. And all of that time spent really learning the professionpaid off. In short, rather than doing nothing, saying nothing... I learned how to be a Dancer.

I'm just saying that if the life of a dancer for you amounts to doing nothing, saying nothing... well, that's hardly satisfying game play. AFKing won't change that for you. Even if you eventuallymaster the profession, if you're doing nothing, saying nothing now, that won't change later on with a spiffy title. What we really do as Novice Entertainersare the same things we do as Master Dancers... we just have more choices of whatit looks like on the surface. If you're bored to tears asa dancer, you'll be bored to tears as a Master Dancer too. And that's why I say you might be in the wrong profession for satisfying game play.

I do have fun, and talk to other players. But sometimes no one is around and then there is no need for me to be there, is it? Sure, i could do those things you said but still, i can't do the same thing all the time without getting bored. And what you say, that it might be the wrong profession for me, is totally wrong. I just can't stand doing the same thing all the time.

Like we stated, you don't have to do the same thing all of the time There's no race to master a profession if it's something you enjoy doing. Take time out of your day to dance at the starport or at a buffline. You forego the healing experience, but a Combat Medic and another Entertainer willing to take a mind disease can make up for that. There's so muchopportunity forthe entertainer professions that doesn't involve letting a macro run inside a cantina.

You're not tethered to the indoor stage, my friend If you find yourself getting bored, seek out new opportunities. You'll have a blast if you can get your fellow entertainers to join you for a jam session.

Oh, and I could well have added that while I was leveling dancer, I was certainly not tethering myself inside a cantina all day every day. I took up scout and marksman for a bit to be able to run around and explore. I went out and found great lakes to do some fishing, found some of the more beautiful places in the galaxy, and generally reminded myself that even a professional dancer gets days off.

Here is a bit of what I found to be wisdom, and it's something I try to pass on. It's what I've always lived by in game.

"If it starts to feel like a grind, I'm doing something wrong. Time to go do something else for awhile."

Games are supposed to be fun, and the minuteone stops having fun in favor of some kind of grinding, they've forgotten why they're playing in the first place. Or, have some crazy idea that the grass is always greener on the other side of Mastery.

My comments about maybe dancer not being right for you were centered around a 10 minute interest threshold. Maybe that was just me, but I found while levelingthat some quiet time in the cantina, with no customers or other entertainers, was the perfect time to try out new ideas. That way no one would tease me if they ended up looking awful..
