Thread: Level 79 pets

My 8 year old has a MCH on the Bria server. He has pets that are 75 to 79 level and has not been able to pull them out. I logged his toon on and read that Master CH is max level of pets 70 now. Is there any way to even pull out a level 79 pet? He loved his gnarled rancor and has now almost quit because he cant play. The CRS's have been less than helpful when i created a ticket prior to this latest update. What i got back was almost unreadable and was barely English. The ticket I sent in after the update just told me that the new publish has some bugs and to watch the forums.

Any help at all would be very much appreciated, Thx -Mo

err...the max is CL 70, if their pre CU pets you should be allowed to change their CL lvl down to CL 70.

Is that similar to the old way of taking them to a CH trainer and dropping them on him to get it changed? I get no message on him that asks me to convert him. And i wonder why a CSR couldnt tell me how in either of my tickets.

p.s. Yes all his pets are pre-CU

Not true, I got a 75 post cu (Maakloks still had babies) and got no nothing cause it's wild tamed, it only asks if you would like to change level/stats if it's be pets, not wild tamed ones.

As to the original post. I don't think anything can be done except deleting the pets that devs made too high for CH to call. Unless he just wants to keep em for nostalgic reasons. In the foreseeable future (If things stay as they are) we won't be able to call such pets they are really scared of CHs being "too" powerful.

I am sorry to tell you there is probably nothing that can be done for your son's pets. He might have already used the option to adjust his pets. Either way, I have not heard of anyone being able to adjust pets back down after they exceeded the level 70 mark.

My advice would be to read with him the sticky explaining the new pet ability system. Baby spawns are up. While losing a beloved pet can be hard, replacing itwith one with (a chance to have) a nice new ability is some comfort.

This happened in Pub 19 and therefore the Post-CU re-adjustment did not apply.

(edit for clarification)
The Devs decided to "adjust" certain creatures, they felt they were too powerful for their level, and to give level 80 profs a wider selection of creatures to hunt. When they did so, they did not offer a respecing of these creatures like they previously did right after the CU. There was alot of screaming, and flaming, but the Devs basicly stated what is done is done.
(end edit)

Several creature levels were "adjusted" which made the pets unusable.

Ones I know of are

Gaping Spider Recluse Hunters
Gnarled Rancors
All of the Tilliks (sp?) from Yavin 4 (mantis like insects)

There are others too. Bottom line, unfortunately is, nothing can be done. Unless the Devs change creature levels again, they will remain too high of a level to call.

FYI, Grinner, my faithful Gaping Spider Recluse Hunter is still in my data pad, and after every Pub and hotfix I check her. She is still lvl 76

Grinner saved me numerous times, and I don't have the heart to set her free. So I understand. It may not sound like much, but try having him go out and tame a new Rancor. Can name it Son_of_****

Good Luck and I hope things work out

More then likely the pets were much lower then 75 to 79 before the combat upgrade. The cap for MCH has been 70 for a couple of years now...dating back to the first big nerf. After the CU when pets were first called out who's stats did not match their level for the new system, players were given the option to adjust either the pet's level or it's stats. Adjusting the level often resulted in pets so high in level they were no longer useable. This is probably what happened to your son's pets. Unfortunately once the pet has been adjusted either by stat or level it cannot be adjusted again.

Ast stated before in this post, You could NOT adjust any wild pets.

As to why the developers changed these pets so that they became uncallable? Well nobody knows but there is definately some developer cluelessness in the answer somewhere.

Anakin: Master, I think my lightsaber is getting dull. Its not doing nearly as much damage as it used to.
Obi-Wan: O.k. when we're done showing the youglings around the temple, we'll stop by the bazaar and you can buy a new crystal. I hope you've got a couple million credits saved up for this.
Anakin: WHAT?!!?? I don't have THAT kind of cash!
Obi-Wan: Well you could try sharpening it on these younglings. I've got a headache and all their questions are driving me NUTS!
Anakin: hmmm.... Sharpen my lightsaber on younglings...... hmmmmmm.....
Obi-Wan: uh, that was a joke Anakin. I'll spot you the cash for a new crystal THIS time, but next time you're on your own.

My wilds kept their original level and the stats were automatically adjusted. My wild Rancor is the same level today as he was before the CU.

The pets in question, the Gnarled Rancor were part of the minor "adjustment" about 3 weeks after CU. These pets could not be respected, there was never an option to do so.

It was from a stealth nerf in Pub 19. My RL brother had a Gnarled Rancor and I had the Gaping Spider Recluse Hunter. After CU adjustments, these pets were between level 67 to 69. After the stealth nerf, they were 74-76.

These were unusual pets, and not alot of people had these. If you research way back on CH forums, can find some posts about this. The Devs were asked if we could respect them like what happened after CU, the response was that due to coding, etc. this was not possible.

Any player with these and a few other critters had no chance to respect them, and this nerf was unrelated to the CU, other then it happend a couple of weeks later.

Only thing I can say is keep the old pets, and tame some new Rancors as "friends" of the others in the data pad. Give their old pets someone to talk to, and see them as retired and relaxing The best type of end for any pet, well cared full and retired from combat and safe in your data pad

I really feel sorry this happend, it happend to me, and as I said before, Grinner is retired and enjoying herself.

I think it may just be me but if a non CH is able to use up to a CL10 and a MCH is +70 does that not equal 80 in standard mathematic logic. Just with SOE employees would realize these things.

The Creature Handler mods were developed before non-handlers could use pets. They did not change the display when they were given the ability. (From a technical standpoint, they do not have a +10 pet level mod either, simply an allowance to use up CL 10 that otherwise ignores the system we use to determine levels.)

Thanks for all the great answers and information about this. I guess i'll be heading to Dath to try to pick up a new rancor.
