Thread: Here are some things they can add to the CH class

It seems like every other class has been upgraded except CH. Because some CH became masters quicker than any other class, we were seen as too powerful....now with armor, weapons, buffs take a look at that arguement again. Other classes no longer cry nerf, in fact they probably pity us. Anyway, here isa list of things I think would make CH better.

1) Add about 50 to 75 new Creatures (tamable) to the Database. Get the art department working overtime. Maybe concentrate on the mid to high levels of what is considered tamable. Dont just slap different colors/sizes on already exsisting models...lets see some creativity here.

2) Create rare/super-rare CH tamable creatures....make it so that these will never spawn in missions so CH have to travel in search of these rare lairs or super rare single spawns.

3) Let CH own and operate a breeding farm...or whatever you wanna call it. Let us be able to do what BEs do but with breeding/crossbreeding. Maybe add a player ownable farm structure (there already is a NPC "farm-like" structure in game with the pirate/farmer thing on tatooine). Lets Architects create a Zoo stucture complete with cages etc.

4) CH should be able to alter the stats/armor rating/skin color and avatar size just like BEs. Maybe there should be some trade off with BE pets and CH breedables as those BE pets are very, very strong (level 11 gurrecks with 10k and poison/disease etc)

Maybe BE should be able to fuss with the stats/resists and CH can fuss with the AR and special attacks...sort of a give an take between the two classes so neither is useless, but both can have the ability to create better than regular pets.

5) Scale Mounts especially for CH. Make some new mounts that vary in rank with your CH ability....Maybe a Master CH can tame/mount one of cat creatures or something like that. Basically have mounts that only CH can use. Make them as fast as vehicles or faster at MCH level.

6) up the pet levels to maybe 90 at MCH so there is a dramatic jump in ability. Most Master Combat classes can easily out perform a MCH in any combat related task so this isnt that big a deal...

7) How about adding more "trophy" pets. These would only spawn as ultra rare baby spawns somewhere. Heck, they dont even have to be powerful or useful. Most CH are avid collectors just because its the only class that rewards exploration in a static world.

8) Flying or hovering mounts only for MCH to ride...that wouldnt be overbalancing, just fun.

Basically add more "fun" stuff to do for CH. Im not asking to tame/use Krayts or anything, just put something in for us who like to explore distant planets all by ourselves.

The good ideas are in green, the bad ones in red. The reason those are bad ideas is simply because they belong in the BE domain, not CH. If you want those abilities, and I know I did, then you must spend the skill points in BE to get them--that's what I did. Don't feel bad, in a perfect make-believe cyber world, both professions would come as one. CH's aren't the only ones making these kinds of posts, BE's do it too--thinking it would be great to be able to control their pet creations up to a certain level, like CL25 or something--no, if they want to be able to control CL25 pets, then they should spend points in CH.

Everything else you posted that is CH specific does sound reasonable and fun, especially the mounts for us MCH's, and upping our control level.

Since nothing can keep up with a swoop, anyway, I really think high level CH's should get cool mounts (like rancors) that run as fast or faster than a swoop. And while it'd be tougher to program, I think you should be able to ride your rancor into battle, with you on top shooting and it under you swinging at whatever manner of beat you have your sights set on.

I think adding some pet abilities would be cool too. For canine pets, give them a rudimentary Area Track for searching for creatures. It can be really rudimentary, like say "Your pet has detected avians to the north" and then you tell him to track them and it starts running and you /follow your pet. You could give pets a "homecourt advantage" if they're fighting on one of the home planets, maybe a 10% boost to damage or healing or both. Give pets a /tearthroatout (or maybe a more PG /deathblow ) command for a ranged deathblow in PvP. Currently only rifleman has this ability,a nd if you could command your pet to do it, it would be a boon for CH.

Night4554, your post got the wheels in my head turning...since CH is supposedly a "support" class, and is seldomly used as a primary combat profession, maybe by mastering it, we should get advantages to our other professions. LIke the areatrack with a pet, that could be a MCH/Ranger bonus, or MCH/(insert combat profession here) could give the ability to use specials from mounted pets. A lot of professions could probably find a specific use for a pet, but it would have to be a serious perk in order to justify mastering CH for it--and for those professions that wouldn't have any real need for pets, maybe another support class could be developed that would also give them tremendous perksif mastered.

I think someone a while back posted something to the effect of having specialization profession mastering...instead of dabbling in a few different things, maybe we could spend more skill points to go beyond what is considered master at this point. I know some professions already take a lot of skill points just to master, but for some reason, being a "master" in this game just doesn't seem to measure up to the costs. I'm curious, does anyone here think that being a master, of just about any profession in this game, is a little disappointing? Come to think about it,I honestly don't know how any race, other than Wookiee, can be called a Master Creature Handler, since they are the only ones that can actually tame all the tamables without +skill mods...in fact, anyrace that can do something in a particular profession, that another race can't, seems unreasonable--perhaps giving different races perks so that their job is a little easier than others is ok, an example being a crafter might get more "amazings" or less "criticals"because of the race chosen...anyway, that's a different topic.

I'm wondering what the SOE employees/devs think of all the ideas that are posted on these message boards, and why they don't participate in these kinds of threads? Not saying that they should give us answers of definite yes, no, or maybe's, but perhaps they could steer us away from what's undoable, given the parameters of the game (understand that I know nothing of software programming or server operation), or they could just tell us what ideas they really like and if they've had some ideas of their own. I think that if they stayed active on the message boards, that they'd have a better understanding when it comes time for a patch to focus on a particular profession--better than "top 10 lists" from correspondents or whatever. I always think it's funny when a dev starts a thread with "tell us...", or maybe an announcement of some sort, and the posts goes on for pages without that dev ever posting in it again--not always--but often enough to get me to laugh out loud...leaves me wondering, what's the point?

Though I'd love to see some of those ideas come to light, it's just not feasable. Too many other professions out there to worry about. Especially since CH is "working as intended" for the most part.

A MCH-only cat mount would be fun...I really liked the idea of a CH quest where the reward was a one-time-only tame adult certificate...could not exceed max CL, and the quest could not be done with any other skills than CH, maybelike ataming quest. Find a hidden NPC on Endor, he sends you to Dath to find a Graul Mauler, return with the graul and he sends to you Rori to find a torton of some sort...not only would that keep us doing what we love, which is taming, but it would have a substantial reward at the end...none of the critters CL 70 or under have anything overpowering, like medium armor, so it would be more of a "Lookie what I got" type of deal. No new skins, programming, or anything else needed...I've done the BE thing, and I really don't see myself as a farmer...
