1. train them to have a group command
2. be near the group leader, and have less than 20 things in group
3. say/yell/shout/ /tellpet the group command
example:
be ungrouped
train pet so group command is "group"
/say group

What he said. You need Management 1 to be able to train the group command.

you said be near the group leader!! do you have to be near him/her to group your pet into the group??? as i sometimes have trouble grouping my pets, i tell them to group but they don't

Yes, you need to be close to the group leader.
Your pets will automatically join the group but you need to be close to him.

basically the way the group command works is to force the GROUP LEADER to invite the pet. if they are out of group invite range of him/her, they can't be inited. The group leader gets a lovely message saying that he's invited a dewback to join, and i it succeeded/failed.
