Ok, it won't get you tons of cash, but I made 80k just sitting...with my pets doing tricks.

a) get ent MIND secondaries buff.

b) get an ACTION (only action) buff.

c) buy Brandy (mind/focus/will buff drink) and/or Ahrisa (focus buff food).

d) call two (small) pets...bring them into med center (and place in corner out of the way).

e) get your FOCUS to about 1500-1600 (alternaite eating/drinking to keep up with the ent mind buff).

f) run a macro to have your pets do a trick - once per tick - place the macro in a function slot, and have it call itself via /ui action toolbarSlotxx.

Then, have the medics/docs heal you constantly, as you can drain your action WAY faster than any tumbler. I was getting 144-288 with two pets.

I did this for a friend this weekend and had other novice medics/docs healing me as well - 1 hour stint, then had to run around to let stomach emtpy (it doesn't emtpy as fast when you're just sitting) - another 1 hour stint - emtpy - then I alternated food/drink to enable a 2 hour stint (had a good ent buff).

No, I don't think this is an exploit...no, I don't condone mistreatment of pets (or real animals for that matter)...but this does use existing game mechanics...AND the CH still has to take a break to 'emtpy' his stomach (since sitting doesn't exert enough energy to empty the stomach as fast as running around/fighting/etc.).

To me, 80k is a ton of cash. That's a lot of high-quality hides to harvest.Although I'm not crazy about the various techniques for grinding xp without actually playing, I don't scoff any opportunity fora CH to make money. (I don't consider it an exploit, but the journey to master is supposed to be part of the "fun.") Yet, I'm 2 boxes away from master and I've never made a credit directly from this profession. At most my critters have helped me pull higher paying missions.

However, why are we reduced to being organ-grinders to make that money? I address this as a question to the devs, who have overlooked CH's role in the economy (among other things). If we are a primary source income for Bio-Engineers, how are we to make the money to pay for the BE pets and stims?

The only time I seriously consider abandoning the CH profession is when I'm tempted by the thought of money that the other professions rake in. I think about picking up artisan skills to prepare for the ship-building profession that will arrive with the release of JTL. Those craftsmen will be making a fortune and fast, too.

Is the lack of direct income perhaps another deliberate technique to strangle the numbers of CHs in the game?

Correct, I hate the grinding, and I don't want to reduce CH's to "pulling tricks".

I just posted this to hopefully benefit some novice CHs out there, who may be starving for money - this is a nice, safe way to make some credits.

Besides, it is something different from the normal daily mission grind.

Yes, once vehicles came out, I have rarely made money with taming/training pets/mounts, let alone selling pets. Most of the time, I tame/train for free - and let the other person decide if it's worth it to tip me.

I make most of my money running missions. When I fight solo (with pets), I scout out a mob to take on that provides a relative safety net, but also provides excitement. I change mobs every once in awhile to keep things fresh. I often take out various beasts/lairs in the areas I'm hunting rares in, so I have fought numerous beasts. Yes, missions can get boring - but I spice it up with alternating the mobs I'm fighting...change from missions to hunting rares...change planets...hunt with friends...help out newbies/novices, etc.

Dont you CH's have a combat prof.? I have Rifleman w/ my CH. Over 2 days I got 37k of Rancor meat that sold for almost a Million. I also get excellent xp for the mutant ranc. If you want money ask your fav. doc. or artisan what meat/hide they want and go get it. I have been offered up to 70 cpu for some items. Even if you don't want to do that just get any meat and sell it on the bazaar for 6 cpu. It will sell.

Yes, but that is from your scout side not your CH skills. I am TKM/MCH and can do the same but my CH abilities have nothing to do with it. I can join a solo group wich negates the benefit of grouping with pets for higher missions. A CH has no money making ability as a CH. Mounts are replaced by vehicles. Wild tames are replaced by BE pets. Following your logic, you would be better as a Rifleman / Ranger. You would be able to harvest more and find the things faster. That is part of the CH problem. Heck, even if they, eventually, come up with something to tame worth money..... Who wants to compete with all the AFK spam at the starport to try to sell it. lol

80k? LOL

If you have decent pets and some combat skills, you can get the better (higher) missions. Janta missions on Dantooine pay 26500 credits, and take about 5 minutes to run.

I am not a CH just to be a CH. I do this because I enjoy it. I don't play well with other's and prefer solo type stuff. CH is perfect for this. I know I can harvest more being Ranger but whatI get is enough. It will take a long time for me to burn thorough 4 mil. I buy standard rifles and decent armor. I would like to pick up some Ranger though but I don't want to drop what medic I have. Fighting the Rancor's bleed heals come in handy as well as using stim C's. It's all what you want but since you have to have Scout to get CH you might as well hunt looking for pets and cut a profit at the same time.

My 2 cents.

I have decent pets, actually some great Bio'd pets. I am still 4 boxes shy of MCH, and 2 boxes shy of M.Ranger. I also have 4,4,0,0 medic. If I solo, I can have fun, I never worry about dying, but it takes a LONG time to do a solo mission with my build that actually pays good creds.

I have a few friends that I run with. When we are together, we rip thru missions like butter, as my pets reduce the need for uber buffs all the time, and we can run without burning thru Brandy / Muon like it was about to go out of style. I have to have good stims and good pet stims though, for when things are getting rough.

I play middle man withmy pets being crowd control and I as a backup healer. I watch what is going on all the time and we rarely ever even get incapped.

My build is fun for me, I enjoy being a support character with this toon, but I still can not make a lot of money solo.

Not everyone is all about the credits, and not having a "pure combat class", does not equate to being "Lazy".

Dunk Wunklin (Lowca) - CH / Ranger / Medic

P.S.

Once upon a time, CHwas a combat class, would be great to actually know what CH is supposed to be.

See, here is a major problem with being a CH. People automatically assume that a Ch has a combat profession to suppliment. CH is not being considered as it should be, as a stand alone profession. I pity a CH that has no combat profession. Unless you are a crafter, I am sure obtaining credits would be incredibly difficult.

One of the main reasons even the devs don't know what we are is because CH doesn't function very well on it's own compared to any other profession.

I think the point was to question how one makes money using CH skills. As a rifleman, I pull missions, lots of them. As a scout, I harvest meat and such and sell it to the doctors. As a CH?

Actually, Grawarr, I thought your idea was clever and shows imagination, but it also shows there are very few ways for CHs to make money from their skill point investment.I just don't think that should be the case. Perhaps when mount speeds are adjusted to be competitive with vehicles again, we'll have a viable trade that uses CH skills.

I agree Cudayn. My build is fun for me. MRM and MCH was not fun, so I dropped the MRM. I only got over 300Kthree times in this game. Once when Grauls and Graul Maulers were very much wanted, I used my Ranger tracking to lead CHs to them all the time, and they paid handsomely. Second when mounts came out, and I was doing that on a tip what you feel basis to train mount, and only 5K if they bought the baby from me and held it till it grew up. Third time, when I made MRM and my friend was TKM, we ran the janta missions on Dant and in an evening we pulled in over 400K with little effort. I am currently hovering around the 400K mark, as I don't have any reason to buy stuff, I don't use armor, and I don't use buffs, and I don't run missions, unless I am looking for a particular creature that can be found that way.

To the original poster, this is not an exploit, in fact you are spending much more money on buffs, brandy and muon doing this, than all those Marksman that /tumbletostanding constantly in the med centers. Just please tell me you didn't do the "Heal me for XP, tips are appreciated" macro while sitting there.
