Hey Everyone,
I'm new to the game and I wanted to get a bit of advice from some of you who have been playing for a while. My character idea is to create a TKA/CH. Mainly because I thought the idea of being a wandering monk with a creature companion would be cool. I know this is definitely not an uber combination but that's not really what I'm after. What I want to know is whether CH is ok to work on at this point. I keep reading all these threads that CH is broken/nerfed/ruined etc... I would just like some advice from you guys who have stuck with it and obviously have some knowledge of the class.
Thanks!

IMO, it depends on your style of game play. It's not a very *good* PVP template, but it rocks for PVE. I am TKM/MCH, and I love it. TKM is my $monkey$ maker, and CH is my hobby.

Honestly, it is broken/nefed/but not ruined and DEFINATLY not etc. Granted I've heard someone make a reference one time, "Yeah, I know it'shard and buggy, but at least it ain't CH." We have our fair share of problems, but I'll tell you what someone told me, and I've told others. "It's a game, play what makes ya happy."
For PvE, Pets are good and help out, they can tank for a toon as they fight. Unfortunatly, right now, as a TK, you would be tanking for your pets, because your defences are better than the pets. I did this idea once with a wook and it worked out great. I say go for it.

Sounds like a Sweet Idea to me. I did something close by going Mater CH and Master Polearm. It looks cool (though I wish they would change the ride anims when holding an item longer then a hand gun) I love the class and Have no plans on droping it (though I was at first to go Commando ). I say do it. Look for cu-pas at first as they are great rides and also have a ranged attack and have them attack from a farand you run up and give them a good beating. Though it's not the best for pvp I think it will be fun to play
Good luck and enjoy (thats what games are suppose to bring, Joy)
If your on Eclipes Give me a yellI'll help you get started andgive you as many pets asyou have slots for

After months of casual play (as opposed to days of furious grinding play) I'm a 2-2-1-2 (or so)CH. I pull out my pet Bantha and we go looking for babies to tame, DNA to sample (I'm a 1-1-3-1 BE), evil hermits to 'enlighten', and the occasional jawa to head-butt. I like it... I talk to my Bantha as we walk the countryside... I can imagine a TKA in monkish robes playing a simillar role would be lots of fun. You could even name your Bantha 'Grasshopper'!

I have been MCH since the week of release. I have been 12 other professions but alway kept CH. I have been role playing a kindly old excentric hermit living on Dant. I finally decided on MTK/MCH and like the combo. The big draw back is you are all kinetic damage and pets are kinetic damage. I use my pets for show only and collect rare creatures. Alot of the rares I go after have some pretty nast poison and disease. The meditation line allows me to cure that along with all of my wounds. In PVE there is not much you can not solo. Knock down/Dizzy takes care of most NPC's and you damage output is very impressive. I can hunt babies all day with good armor and no buffs and only have to go to town for BF. I can also get buffed and run high destroy missions with ease when I need the cash. But I have and keep CH for the role play and fun of taming. Not for any practical purpose.

All,
Thanks for the great responses! It's good to hear that some people are already enjoying the combo. One point I was wondering about was whether the pets would be baggage with the skills a TKM would possess. It sounds like that would indeed be the case but the enjoyment factor is still there. I really appreciate the advice.

Many TKA do consider the pet skills to be excess baggage. I'm not a TKM/MCH but my husband plays one, and very often when he's hunting his pets don't even do any damage before he kills his mark. But, he loves having his pets at his side. It's all a matter of what you enjoy doing.
