Hi,
I only just learnt my novice CH today, I havent got any skills in it yet.
Just wondering about pets, advice from MCHs, I take it CL is the same as the max level of pet mod that i get.
Also, what is the best pet to start with, I take it I can tame anything of CL12 or lower seeing as I got a +12 mod for novice.
Please help me, I'm really confused.
Thanks.

Yeah, CL corresponds with your Max Level of Pet skill. CL standing for Creature(or Challange) Level. As far as what the best pet for you right now is, I suggest going here. You can click on advance search and pick various options to narrow down the pet your looking for.

welcome to the fold
off the start not much difference in any natural pets at novice so use whatever you want for tanking xp
tanking xp = just have your pet take 1 bite out of a target and you finish it off for full xp.
when you get to lvl 15+ in skill mods try a cowardly gurreck on endor for tanking.
at lvl 25 i highly recommend a boar wolf on endor they have great stats and at master ch I still use them.
there is said to be a sweat spot for tanking xp around lvl 20 so ingrinding xp you may not want to use a pet in the upper lvl's when you are able, best to use weaker pets for larger xp.
BE pets also may help if you find some with the right stats at the lvl you can use. keep in mind kin resistance is very important and I personally would not purchase a BE pet unless kin resistance was 50+. the cap is 60 on kin for BE pets.
as far as taming xp goes at nov just run around cities on naboo, tat, correllia and tame evrything in site that you can. and teach them whatever you can. usually you get around 100 xp per tame and command taught and these areas are filled with low lvl babies. I used to tame a baby then use him to tank evrything around me, then release him and find another.
please remember that taming/training is good xp as you go up the skill trees and your pet storage is limited so always try and keep at least one free space in your datapad/storage for taming/training.
One other peice of advice, the grind can be long but dont rush to grind xp lol yea easier said than done but ch is a very cool/fun profession and traveling the planets looking for possible pets is what I have found most rewarding. you will be surprised how much you will learn about creatures, spawns, and yourself hehe just taking your time and enjoying the profession.
Good Luck
and Enjoy

my advice...find a dancer or musician, gvie them a flewt, or various Rasp's (birds) below level 10...have a MCH or yourself train it to do patrol, patrol waypoints, and clear waypoints, and both T1 and T2 tricks...show them how to use them, and the /tellpet commands in their dance marco's....trust me, you will NEVER have to pay or stand in line for a mind buff or heal EVER again....ID's also love them.......people in their prof's are VERY interactive when they are on....pets make them stand out....help them out and word will spread....since i started doing that, the girls have been known to dump whole groups to buff my mind and heal me...solo....help them and they will help u...also offer to take them to POI's with your pet on "guard" for them....u will have a friends list that takes 10 minutes to scroll thru when u logon lol.....take care and welcome to the proffesion!
Take your time and enjoy it...
