I'm thinking about making one of my characters Master Creature Handler/Master Ranger along with merchant 3000 for organic resource vendors. The only thing I'm worried about is my combat level. I have a gut feeling its going to be well under 50 with such a build and having a low combat level excludes you from alot of interesting and fun content.
The reason I want this template is because I am completely and utterly bored with nothing dropping decent loot and the sheer lack of content all round. With the changes to Creature Handler in Publish 21, it has grabbed my attention as something that would be quite interesting, unique and enjoyable. However with combat level challenged template, this kind of negates any and all possible fun I think I could get from the template. So if it is indeed the case that my combat level will be shockingly low, could anybody perhaps offer me template advice as to what I may find interesting, whilst at the same time, keeping as many content doors open as possible, if you know what I mean (low CL basically means no interesting content).
Thanks in advance.

You may want to drop Ranger for another combat profession. Just make sure you keep Master Scout. I was originally a MCH, Pistoleer, Ranger, but found the need for maxing CL too great. You can make up some of the hit of losing Ranger with food. Veghash adds +30 to Creature Harvesting.

MCH alone gives you a combat level of 54 and I think that MRanger will up that level... I think... Also I think that novice medic could be useful. Do you really need merchant 3xxx to sell organic resources?

I am a Master CH/Master Ranger and my CL is 80.
Both Ranger and CH count as full combat professions. Your ability to do damage on a level 80 scale.... well that's another issue! I have not been enjoying CH overly much since the CU. I am hoping that will change with this next patch.
If you do want an extra bit of damage, switch the skill points spent in merchant to BH. This is the most skillpoint efficient combat profession to pair with CH & Ranger. I suggest the line that has the critical hit attack. However, this will loose you the vendors sadly.

Mastering any two elite professions will give you a cl of 80. You will not, however, have any combat weapon specials with a MCH / MR template. If you're looking for combat power, this is not a good template.

Aha, suprising and very good news. I shall go ahead with my plans then and the template can always be tweaked should I decide its lacking for me somehow. Thanks for the input

I guess I could sacrifice the vendors. Would mean I would need to work closely with the people who need it, though and I don't currently know anyone.

go to www.bloodfin.org. go to the downloads link and get the template builder.
you'll never have to ask about skills, CL, etc. It's all right there for you to run ever configuration under the sun.
