The real kicker is that it will most likely be faster then any mount in game. I am going to bet it is the same speed as the slowest speeder

Well it may be tameable...??? There was another post on this forum about ambiguity in the way they phrased it. It might just be that everyone gets one for free from the preoder, but we may still be able to hunt/tame them as well... who knows...

Why would they make it an 'exclusive'reward if any CH can have one for free (or anyone with a CH friend), without having to evenpre-order (or even buy, given that someone with RotW could go tame it then trade it to a non-RotW person)the expansion?
Another way to look at it:
- In JTL, you could still play the game without buying it, however you could not own a flash speeder. It was not craftable (did not exist as a schematic that could be learned or acquired), therefore it was not available to anyone who did not pre-order the expansion.
- the veractyl will be similar. It will not exist in the wild, because the planet it is native to will not exist in the game. By not having it exist in the wild (or at least be untameable), it thereby remains an 'exclusive' item.
The only way we could get it otherwise if somehow they decided to give BEs a schematic to make creatures using the veractyl skin. And I find that highly unlikely, as it would have been mentioned in some way in the promotional materials.
I think people's optimism at the vague info is misguided. With the devs, has it ever, I mean EVER, been thatsomething vaguehas worked out in favor of the optimistic interpretation? Seriously think about it. Assume the worst and plan for it. If everyone gets to have one and it's a tameable anyone can go get, what's the harm in having pre-ordered just in case? The only reason fora CH not to pre-order is if they don't want the expansion at all. But hoping that you can not pre-order it and still get the new goodies is not realistic.
Being upset at the devs' decision-making won't change reality. Either you play by the rules and get it however you can, or you quit in frustration. We all know nothing we say or do will change their minds.
For me personally, I'm going to pre-order because I don't want to take the risk. I want to try out the expansion anyway and now I have incentive to pre-order it instead of buying it off the shelf on release day. The money isn't the issue. However, depending on how things shake out with the CU/RotW, I may still quit in frustration- and how the handling of this 'exclusive' mount is done, will no doubt play a part in that decision. Butfrustration about how it may play out negatively, won't stop me from pre-ordering and finding out.

It sounds like there will be several new mounts in the expansion anyways, even without the veractyl. As a wookiee and a CH I am doubly excited. I just processed my pre-order.

you forgot to mention the exclusive item you get for buying the 80 dollar box of stuff (actually the book that came in the box was kinda cool) when the game was first released... YAY for... um... a pair of glasses that i deleted because they take up 3 inventory slots... which they said they would fix durring the first few weeks after release... hm... yeah....

The native planet it Utopu (sp?). The Varactyl and the Boga are the same creature. The Boga is just the creatures name in Episode 3. Sort of like Wookiee and Chewbacca. Chewbacca is the name of the wookiee. Boga is the name of that particular Varactyl.

In the pre-order advertisement, I didn't see anything that suggested the mount was exclusive to the folks that pre-order. Here's the actual text.
------------
Pre-Order the Expansion Pack and be the first to receive your very own, Varactyl! The Varactyl is the creature ridden by Obi-Wan Kenobi in the Episode III: Revenge of the Sith movie – one of the fastest new mounts in the Galaxy!
------------
I can imagine a lot of folks, that didn't read carefully, being disappointed.

The Veracytl is the Boga, i read episode 3, and the Boga is just the name of that specific veracytl, it was the name of the thing that obi wan rode, but it wasn't the name of the species, they never gave the name of the species in the book. Also its not from kashyyyk wich is really weird that they would make it a mount for some reason. If im not mistaken that thing that obi-wan rode is from Utapau or something like that, and when you go to pre-order the expansion it says that you get the mount that obi-wan rode , but he only rode one mount in the book so...ya.

They still should make this creature tamable, even if it not on it's native planet, they oviously are breeding on the wookie home world.
I found a quest to get an egg and then raise your own, but it also says you need to have downloaded the game from online.
This quest would give you a level 65 versus the free level 10.
Hopefully they will change this, for a Master Creature Handler not to be able to tame a creature that can oviously be mounted does not make sense.
