do scout and ranger traps work on players pets (lets say, during a duel, or during a factioned battle?)
this is something ive always wondered, but never tested myself.

No, they do not.
This has been a long-term request of the Ranger and Scout community in order to give them a place in PvP. Unfortunately with the current worthlessness of pets in PvP, not a very useful one to them at the moment.
The system did allow this in beta, however xp was received for the trap, including using it on your own pets. Instead of removing the xp grant, they removed the ability to trap pets.
