Fun little idea it could be... This last patch was seemingly, specifically targeting the Droid Engineer in whole along with some other perks like adding Nova Troopers to the lineup. Over all Id say it has been a great success as a whole to put pressure on the many overt rebels running around Bestine causing crap (Fair game according to PvP, but a historical NoNo to Star Wars lore). But some things just seemed worthless. A harvesting droid, what the heck? Another AFK macroing tool I guess... great (I never AFK macro, I feel so left out). But even with many wondering who the heck would want some of these droids (foaming droid doesnt do much for me, but Ive heard it looks cool), it leaves hope in the possibility of a patch focusing on the CH. Another profession based patch... for US. Probably little more than a fanciful dream, but can we seriously think the devs can go on much longer?
The fact is that the vast majority of things you will encounter in the game are animals... LOTS OF ANIMALS. Has any1 tried putting a left hook on a large German Shepard recently? Not exactly the smartest move, especially if it was an aggressive one and you started it. So if a dog that is smaller than you and trainable canfloor you andwhoop your tail then why are they giant cats 3X your size and even bigger animals so darn laughable in game? Why have they focused on us to spank while TK, fists of furry going rampid splattering Giant Crustacians that could rip you in half in reality (Enraged Rancor) with ease but we have trouble facing other animals? Im not quite sure who the dog warden is in the group of devs, but creatures do tend to be much better than people in every aspect except mental capacity. Im still confused as to how TK is so much more justifiable than Ch to be super powerful... personal pet peave i guess.
Now, Droids got their boost, most other professions could use a shot of 'roids or a leg or two sawed off. The rest simply are out of options or are in need of minor repairs. The CH takes up just enough SP to make it a bother trying to level other skills around it, why not toss us a stick? Why not toss the community as a whole a stick? Why the heck a stick? I dont think a patch devoted to the "creatures" would be all that bad. 1 of 2 things needs fixing, maybe both.
(Notice the skill fixes planned in the future are for SKILLS not animals, so what do you think?)
#1. Make animals tougher, with more bite
#2. Give the CH bigger tamable animals, much higher levels that have tamable babies.
#3. Possible NonCH minor level bost to not instill too much power but give grounds for us to live off of. Just enough to give SWEET animals that BEs cant touch.
#4. Extra abilities toward wild animals (being able to temperarily call groups of near by wild animals to your aid ect. by what ever means)
Those are my thoughts, CH is fun throughout the Lvl up cause there is always something new but once u get toward the top you start running out of options. What do the onlookers from this forum think? A patch to apply some makeup on the emaciated figure of all those who cant stand giving up all of this hard work on such a bitter-sweet class sound reasonable? Does a day where CHs can light there fireworks and breath freely that the CH has finally made good use of those skill points sound good?
I dont really care how possible or impossible this sounds to you, just if its something that you could really hope for or would enjoy. Cheers mates, to CH and a fairly nice update

so is now a bad time to tell you that the last few patches all focused on beating CH down to the level it is at?

Yes I would love to see your ideas get implemented but quite a lot of your ideas would simply put CH back to where they were pre December.
The key difference between CH and DE is that DE were always broken, whereas CH were very powerful.
CH started off powerful and were deemed by the Devs too powerful (I agree to some extent) then we were gradually nerfed by every major update. To restore us even part of the way to what we were would mean that Devs admitted they were too agressive in their nerfing. I personally think that IF CH were to get any positive revisions it would be in a new direction away from the sought of strengths that we had previously. Their have been a lot posts and great ideas already posted on this forum looking at how to make CH useful and worthwhile.

the trouble is I can see why CH seems nerfed, all the larger animals are the bread and butter of game hunting activity, rancor hunting is probably the number one animal for hunting, I can remember when a group of 15 were wiped out by rancors - wounds in the 90% margin balck everywhere, now you can hunt em in 2's or even solo em. In this sense we get nerfed by all the other fighting classes needing the top animals to be easier, which means those very same animals when they become our pets are weaker.
Teh REAL problem lies with WHY? Why are we so conditioned to games like EQ, that we have Dragons and Swords in a futuristic setting? Why is nearly all hunting done on animals, why are we running around with a sword in our hand, a full suit of armour and cleric buffs, hunting Dragons. Dragons and such that are supposed to drop high quality technical components and/or schematics.
We are supposed to be in a Galactic War between the Rebel Alliance and The Empire, apart running a few faction missions from the back of a cantina solo - this setting doesnt seem to exist.

Seeing the schedule laid out in JustG's state of the game post ... http://starwarsgalaxies.station.sony.com/team_comments.jsp?id=61953&page=Team%20Comments... it's quite clear that CH is screwed until the 12th of Never .... and that's a long long time.

Has Han said 'never tell me the odds'.
Quite frankly CH will not be seen to for a very very long time. If you look at what's happened recently not specifically on professions, but actual game content and dungeons, the trend is leading away from CH and non-item based professions.
Game content has become important because it's very obvious to the devs that players are getting bored very easily and the jedi profession grinding is frankly very little incentive for people to stay. So in a way they're turning SWG into an EQ wannabe game. With the likes of WoW and EQ2 on the horizons, getting in as much game content in has become a huge priority. The amount of work the devs are putting into the new dungeons is just a hint at where this game is going.
All I can say to CHs out there is hang in there, it's gonna be a real long wait.
