We are cranking on the Combat Balance, and we think development on it will span 2 more publishes. This is an extremely sweeping and in-depth overhaul that will include the HAM revamp, speed formulas, weapon balances, weapon certifications, weapon stats, profession roles and balances, specials, armor balances, DoT balances, and buff balances. Obviously we want to get this right, so we are taking the time to do so.

Has anyone ever heard such sweet words? We now have in writing the combat rebalanced will be finished over the next 2 publishes.

It will be interesting to see what happens. Does the combat rebalance truly help us? I honestly think it will, it may require another CH balance, but this is good news guys.

Vert, you should be pointing this out to us!

loon,

About 1.5-2 months. So still this is 4-8 months off depending on what you believe will be done when.

Um hate to rain on your parade but the original combat revamp started with patch 5 and was supposed to be done in patch 7, this was also put in writeing.

To quote TH

"Creatures may seem a little weak for a couple of months but when we are done putting out the revamp all will be balanced out, and many will be happy with the new changes"

5 months and counting of weak creatures, how many more?

Of course teh original post on the revamp by TH was deleated SOE forbid we go back and throw their own words in their faces.

Barb, it says publish 10 as I read it.

Publish #10: The Jedi Trials

  • Complete overhaul of the path to becoming Force Sensitive
  • Combat Balance: A major overhaul to the combat system and balances of our game.
  • Squad Leader Revamp

They only discuss 3 publishes in the letter, not 4.

With publish 8 just completed, assuming they stick to the schedule posted as part of the same document, that will be 12 weeks or 3 months from now.

Our mini-publishes are two weeks apart, our main publishes are 6 weeks apart, and we hotfix things into the game almost every week.

I guess 3 months is good news since TH had basically said it was delayed indefinitely.

Frankly, that tells me absolutely nothing. The Combat Balance is the proverbial bag of magic beans .... it will end world hunger, establish peace and cure cancer ..... at least if you believe everything you read.

Considering it is what the PvP/PvE type really need/want to happen it is good news. Yet one must be wary that it is the aultimate solution to anything.

Yup.

Don't believe anything they report. They can always say, later, that circumstances changed and it must be delayed again.

The only thing that is certain is what has already happened, and that was the great creature nerf of 2003.

We will see when it gets here.

IF the balance goes through in a timely manner and IF it really is the magic cure-all it is supposed to be, will the game survive it?

Does anyone remember the mass exodous when we were nerfed? The only way for it to "succeed" is if most of the other professions are hit as hard. Only the players will have nowhere to turn to because all the professions were nerfed. Some people will enjoy having a challenge again, even some that given a chance didn't realize it, but how many are going to stick around to find out?

Maybe the space expansion being close behind or during the balancing will prevent this, but expect some serious turmoil when these changes go through. On the plus side, we will have had almost a year to be used to the system.

I see nothing has changed for the better in my time away from the game... Including TH's Employment... Hmmm Oh well...
