What are people's opinion and experience with this part of the game. At QL10 creature pet vs. Droids who wins? Which is easier to maintain? Which one will last longer tanking?

Also QL10 pet/Droid vs. putting points in CH. Is it worth it to invest points in CH to gain better pets. Does it make soloing and exploring easier when unbuffed. Right now I am considering going Carbineer but having a hard time decided whether to get the carbine speed and accuracy in BH or to go MCH.

Thanks for any help and wisdom.

I know that I am posting this question in a biased forum, but you guys are really nice and just wanted to discuss this from your experienced perspective. If this is talked about in a FAQ stickied at the top, then yell at me. I have looked but did not see a comparsion.

CL 10 you mean? if the BE calculater wasn't broken on the lower end of things, Then a top end droid should come out on top I would think. DE requires much more SP than not having a proffesion at all, which is what a CL 10 pet really is, just power without a proffesion. Maintenance does go to the pet though, and if your using a BE CL 10 pet it should always tank better since it's going to be more powerful.

Actually CH is pretty much the top proffesion unbuffed. as long as you don't run into a lair of 50 things and they all attack you instead of the pet, you should be able to take care of most anything thats not really, ya know, majorly powerful. The question of "is it worth it" really depends on how you intend on having fun with this game. If you like controlling pets for the sake of controlling pets and just plain generally like the concept, then by all means pick up CH. If your just looking for pure power with minimal effort, well, im afraid CH can't provide that.

I would never use a cl 10 pet for anything except getting mounts to non-CH's, because they are totally useless for anything much above a cl 10. I have both and my bot would kill any cl 10, or if I used the brawling droid it would be humorous to watch which would finally go down the cl10 or the LE and how long it would take.

The good old JB argument of "Droids cost no skill points. Pets do". But your talking CL18 tank bot vs Cl10 borked BE pet.

So lets say LE repair droid at 5900 HAM vs CL10 Cu'pa 8k/6k/4k HAM. Thats not the top or bottom for a CL10 BE beasty. All droids have 20% resist to all (40% is a display bug). The borked BE Pet will be 60% to kinectic. Both can have melee, ranged or a mix of attacks.

You can use a CL10 mount as a backup vehicle when an NPC blows your swoop up. Can't ride a droid no matter how much you try they won't let you.

A droid has the options of modules and auto-repair. A creature doesn't. But a creature has more HAM and better protections.

This is why im a Novice CH so i can have both out at the same time If i had to choose id go with a CL10 mount.

My free to use, no skill points, Class 19 (notice, 19, not 18...ty Straker) probot eats your Class 10 pet for lunch. He eats class 25 torturs for dinner, with no help from the studio audience.

HAM, no contest. Attacks, no contest as my droid is faster and has a higher to hit ratio and probably does more damage than most pets I can think of off hand at Class 10.

In this battle Droids 1 - Pets 0. Not even close.

oh yeah, add a person to the mix and two combat masters and a droid get better missions. Two masters alone don't.

CL 10 pets are no contests to a good droid. They also have 20% resists to everything but LS. Your CL 10 pet has that 60% for Kinetic most likely, and probably has junk resists to the energy weapon that a Probot has. And that probot is going to keep backing up to 90m, you pet will probably not even get in range to hit it once before it keels over.
