I see with all the damage done to this profession, it kinda scares me and gives me hope at the same time. Since I should be a novice CH by this weekend, I hope the bugs are fixed before I start in

Well, after asking alot of people in game, and comming up with ALOT of different opinions (Cheers to the CU for this, love the no I-WIN template) I wanted to ask you folks, the pro's about what you think;

I plan on going master, and trying to find the right combo of pets, so I can start tamming them now. Was thinking natural, but I hear the BE pets are wicked as well. Though from what I am told, the Natural pets regen alot faster, and BE pets hit harder and havemore health. SO with BE pets, take novice medic also.

I am going Master Ranger/Master Creature Handler/ then either 4004 marksman, or 4000 marksman/novice medic.

I am going to be a ranger for hire, I like ot travel, the money is good, and with the resource shifts, it is nice to be hunting new planets and areas every week or so. Keeps the game fresh

So, the question is,

Will three level 23 pets do approx the same damage as two level 35 pets whitch do the same damage as one level 70 pet?

What type of creature do you recomend I use for this purpose?

What combo holds better agro? I have 3 different weapons to match the pet damage, so I should be able to stay just under the pet damage.

Thank you in advance.

To hold agro, you're going to need a high level BE pet. Even then, you need to let the pet fight a little while before you start shooting.

Anakin: Master, I think my lightsaber is getting dull. Its not doing nearly as much damage as it used to.
Obi-Wan: O.k. when we're done showing the youglings around the temple, we'll stop by the bazaar and you can buy a new crystal. I hope you've got a couple million credits saved up for this.
Anakin: WHAT?!!?? I don't have THAT kind of cash!
Obi-Wan: Well you could try sharpening it on these younglings. I've got a headache and all their questions are driving me NUTS!
Anakin: hmmm.... Sharpen my lightsaber on younglings...... hmmmmmm.....
Obi-Wan: uh, that was a joke Anakin. I'll spot you the cash for a new crystal THIS time, but next time you're on your own.

I can answer this for you very easily...I use a 37/32 combo or my 23/23/23 Kusak trio (Larry, Moe, and Curly) my 37/32 combined 630-650 damage, my 23/23/23 comined 750 damage.

oh, and as for holding agro.....unless you are using a CDEF rifle they will NEVER hold agro....welcome to the new world

This might sound like a noob question, but I have to ask it since I dont know what you mean....

23/23/23 combined 750 damage ???? is that the total DPS? or they each hit for 250 every 2 seconds? 3 seconds?

It is all relitive to me. If I have to use a weapon that does 200 damage?? for a 250 damage critter to keep agro. fine with me. If i use a 400 damage ?? weapon for a level 70 critter that does 500 damage to keep agro, fine with me.

BTW thank you for the imput, this has opened my mind up to all kinds of ideas.

I'm a master rifleman using a high-end weapon. Pets can hold aggro at all?

Turn OFF auto-attack. Time your shots to the level of damage your pets are doing. I have found that with a bit of good timing, I can keep creatures turning back and forth between running towards me and responding to my pets' attacks.

it is their damage rating, they don't have a DPS rating. 750 per attack combined.

I've done a lot of experimenting with that. I'll save you most of the boring details and give you a quick summary. The real advantage of multiple pets is that they provide you with a bit moredamage. That is, they will help you do a bit more damage than you could do by yourself. What you'll want to do is examine your combat chat after every encounter to see the kinds of results you get.

Assuming equivalent levels, 3 pets will do more damage than 2 pets. 2 pets will do more damage than one pet. How much damage they do will depend on the level of the mob you're attacking. The higher the level of the mob, the less damage the pets do. Conversely, the lower the mob level, the more damage the pets do. Always group with your pets, they do more damage.

By way of example, against CL80 mobs, my3 pet combo - CL 22,23, & 23 -does about 300 damage. That'scombined not each btw. Idon't havethe exact figures with me at the moment, soI am guessing but I'm not too far off. I forget what my 2CL 34 pets do, but it's less. My CL 66 pet does about 136, give or take. Pets are wild tamed, not BE.

Pets can't tank against mobs near or higher thantheir level. They can hold aggro if you're able to keep yourdamage output low enough. Except then your pets will die. Period. And especially true if they end up taking on more than one mob at a time.Mobs much higher in level than your pets will simply do too much damage too quickly. So be very careful if you use your low level pets to pull very high level mobs. You will have to take aggro if you want your pets to survive.Low level mobs won't be a problem, of course.

I only have "normal" wild pets, so I can't speak to the advantages of elite or BE pets. Good luck and good hunting!
