I am in possession of a CL1 nuna.
He has the following abilities:
L1 Bleeding Attack
L1 Imperiling Feint
L1 Knockdown Attack
L1 Frenzied Blitz
I am Master Smuggler/Master Pistoleer
This nuna has gone through a LOT of testing to see if a CL1 pet is viable for a non CH profession.
TEST 1: Kimoglias
The nuna and I travelled to the barren desert wastelands of Lok, and headed south to Mount Chalot. We then spent the next several hunting and killing kimoglias of all shapes and sizes. I would attack first, to take agro, and the nuna would then proceed to gnaw away at the target.
Result:
7 dead kimoglias, 2 incaps on the nuna, 5 feign death for me
TEST 2: Avatar Platform
We travelled from the deep jungles of Kashyyyk to the Avatar Platform, where we then engaged the Blackscale hoards.
Result: cleared the platform, countless incaps on the nuna, countless deaths on me
TEST 3: Krayt dragons
The bones of the krayts were plentiful in this, their hallowed graveyard. We engaged 4 Krayts, 2 adolescent, 1 giant, 1 regulat I think (too busy running)
Results: 4 dead Krayts, 2 incaps on the nuna, 1 feign death on me
CONCLUSIONS:
The obvious con to using a CL1 pet is they have NO health. Through the above testing I discovered something many might already know, but was new to me. If the one holding agro is beyond 32m, the mobs don't use AOE attacks. It is the AOEs that typically wipe out the nuna. I worked out my strategies so that by staying beyond 32m, I could, with the help of my Sith Nuna, take on just about anything that exists ingame.
He NEVER gains agro if I fire first. He never gets hit if I stay 32m+
Just some food for thought for those who might want to try something new.

I traind a lesser BOL CL10 with several specials, it had inhaerentbleed attack lv2, plus I gave it Frienzied assult lv 1 as well as imperling feight lvl1. From the reports of the customer who bought it, it not only can tank, but can stand up to heavy assults by mobs as long as the owner helps out. I think with a slightly diffrent build, you could make very viable low level tanks.

SOE should do away with the calling limit. Just have it so that you can call however many pets you want, just so long as they don't add up to be more than CL70. Could you imagine someone with 70 CL1 Nuna's following them around. PvP would be way unbalanced. Or at least, your opponent wouldn't be able to fight cause they'd be like "WTH!?!"

But it would be really cool to watch...
