I'll answer that question with another one.

Why would I want my CL70 pet to gain full training XP on CL1 yard trash?

Today I discovered a rather interesting and annoying XP bug.

If you group your pet to another player besides yourself via the befriend command then have that person move 600-800m away neitheryou oryour petwill be ableto gain any ammount of XP whatsoever. Hmm this could very well be related to the other grouping XP bug.

To reproduce

1. Befirend your pet to someone

2. Have them group the pet.

3. Have them move at least 600-800m away

4. Try to kill anything at all

Ok, I'm stumped. Why would you even do that? We already know that if you're a higher CL than your pet, you shouldn't group with it or it hurts the training xp. So why even group your pet with someone else?

It dosent hurt if the person is lower level than the pet.

I'm still not seeing why you'd group your pet with someone who then runs off somewhere else, yet you continue to fight with your pet by your side.

The pet does not fight at your side it fights at their side. What this bug means is that you need to stay near your pet. As such it is probably a feature rather than a bug.

Oh, in that case, your pet doesn't get training xp because they need to fight under the command of a creature handler. Or so I understand.

They forced the CU on us and the CL system. Sometimes even a bad decision has positive unintended consequences.
