I am currently unlocking the ability slots on my CL69 lurking shear mite working on the presumption that I unlock 12 free slots what do you think of this template as an all round tank/attack pet

Lightning Reflexes L3 (tamed with this abilitiy)

Thick Skin L3

Frenzied Blitz L3

Marring Storm L3

Vigorous Health L2

Knockdown L1

I want a pet that is a reasonable tank but can deal out some damage as well.....

Do you think that marring storm will be better in this case than precision strike?

Will this pet tank at all with no agression?

Personally, I would try to fit Aggression L1 in there somewhere. If you want to use the pet as a tank, Aggression would come in handy to hold aggro. I'm working on training up Shear Mite for use as a tank with a minimum of these abilities.

Vigorous Health L3 (Tamed with this)

Thick Skin L3

Beastly Constitution L3

Aggression L1

Lightning Reflexes L1

*edit* Sorry, forgot to answer your question. The pet you're planning can tank without Aggression, but you will have to let the pet get a few hits in to raise the hate generated. I use Aggression L1 on my main tank and even with a Heavy Lightning Rifle (511 Mod DPS) I can't pull aggro away.

I would go with

Vig Health L3 it pays off

Marring storm L1 most bang for buck the other 2 do not actually add enough to be worth it.

Imperilled feint L1armor break is far more effective then knockdown 1 miss and knockdown dosent pay off armorbreak lasts for a bit.

Thick skin L3 good plan

Beastly constitution L3 with high health and armor this one pays off in the end especially in pve.

Aggression L1 ivoe is right you need to ensure the pet takes aggro its a tank it needs to be the sheild its supposed to be. If whatever you fight breaks off of it then you have already failed.

Thanks for the thoughts on this, I trained the mite with lvl1 agression (thnx for the sprat chakc) last night and found it held aggro on CL80 gronda very well if fact when our hunt group got down to a couple of people the mite took the heat a few times when we got swamped by a couple of extra gronda although I agree i need to train up on lvl2 agression for it to be fully effective.

As i said in the first post the mite came with Lightning Reflex lvl3 pre-programmed I must say that I have been very impressed with it so far, leaving the CL69 mite to battle it out on it's own with the CL80 gronda was no problem with only this not even half ability template, obviously I havent had chace to compare this with a CL69 mite without reflex lvl3 yet but if i get chance tonight i might go see if i can tame one to see just how effective reflex is. I think by the time I add some health and thick skin and a few attack abilities the 69 mite will be more than a match for CL80 creatures on it's own.

I just trained my CL65 varctyl in Agg L1 and attacked some CL 78s with it (I am CL71 atm) and it didn't hold agro very well. I was drawing agro from the creature, so in effect I would go at least Agg L2 if you want to keep a beasts attention.
