Thread: Question on transfer...

This may be a noob question, but if someone could clear something up I'd appreciate it...

First, is it possible to trade creatures using the normal trade window? I decided I didn't feel like keeping my digital download varactyl (which has been generated from the reward deed), so I'm auctioning it off. Of course, now that the auction is coming to a close, I realized that this should've been something to check first.

Second, if you can trade creature control devices as datapad objects (in the same way you can trade schematics), what's the point of the transfer command gained at Master CH? I haven't hit Master yet, so I'm going off of Kodan's prof calc, but I'm pretty sure I remember seeing that ability in the in-game skill description.

I'm suspecting the answers are "yes" and "because the devs haven't done any housecleaning of CH skills", but figured it'd be best to double check.

1. yes, you can trade pets with the trade window. I think the 'transfer' command is there for ease... it takes much less time and is a lot less of a pain to trade a pet to another person by just using the transfer command instead of waiting for the trade window. Not by much, but that's one bit of it. "Because the devs haven't done any housecleaning of CH skills" may also play a part, lol

One note to keep in mind, though. Non-CHs can only have 2 stored pets at a time, not counting droids or vehicles. The new Kash pet quest rewards/digital download reward pets are not supposed to count against this 2 stored cap, which lures Non-CHs into a false sense of security that they can indeed have more than 2 stored pets since they have these. Keep in mind that if you're a Non-CH with the three Kash pets and trade them away to have them named/trained for you and try to get all three back from your CH friend, you'll get the "you have too many stored pets" error and not be able to get all three back. Good to know if you're transferring this pet to the winning bidder of your veractyl auction and they're a Non-CH and already have two pets stored in their datapad. Good luck!

Edit: I'm more saying this for your bidder than you since you're a CH and won't have the issue with the 2 stored pets thing. Also good for you to know in case you have a Non-CH friend ask you to name/train their three Kash pets... let them know ahead of time if they trade you these to name/train that they won't be able to get the pets back because as soon as they're traded out of their datapad, Kash reward pets or not, they won't be able to get them back because you'll get the "you have too many stored pets" error. Kinda a pain

Thanks, Amethyst. The 2 creature limit in the datapad is something else I forgot to think about. Better go put a warning in my auction.

One more question, if you don't mind:

Do faction pets count towards the "two creature limit", or are they tracked separately?

Faction pets are separate.

At various times, CL 11+ pets required knowing the transfer command in order to be traded. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

Non-handler pets can of course be taught the command, but it's only a convenience and if you do not want to do a secure trade.

I wish I knew this one for sure- I'd assume that those would be treated separately like droids and vehicles - I don't have any faction pets, so I can't answer with 100% confidence!!

Good luck
