I was grinding a cl 2 pet and it rolled over 6 times got 24 trainning points 2 ability points I used KD as first ability then I tried to get enough for a second attack ability wheen i looked at the xp thinking I had gone well past that , well i did this is how it looked in my datapad 12212/2200 hmm why did this not rollover. Can you not train 2 combat abilities to a creature at this CL ???I was able to dump vig health L1 on it , but I was quite dissapointed...

What CL mobs were you killing (CL 2 stuff for the pet or CL 75+ for you)? And were you grouped or not?
I wonder if this may be a buggy side effect of the "extra xp is retained after rollover". There was a hotfix not long after pub 21 where if you were at 2000 / 2200 and killed something that gave 500 xp, the pet would go to 300 / 2200 (prior to the hotfix the pet went to 0 / 2200 for anything over 200 xp). With low-CL pets (that have low training xp rollovers), I wonder if situations can occur where they earn more than a level's worth of xp with a single kill. So if the pet was at 2000 / 2200 and earned 3000 xp (it was grouped with you when you killed some high-level mob), it would gain onlyone level's worth of training points (and maybe an ability slot), but end up at 2000 + 3000 - 2200 = 2800 xp.
As a possible workaround, group with it and kill off some low-levelyard trash. With the CL xp adjustment, this will give the pet 1 xp per kill, and may trigger a rollover each time until it ends at less than 2200 xp.

Yes, it is a result of XP rolling over. I saw this happen quite often when destroying lairs with low level mobs. After the pet usually gains one maturity level per kill until the xp are back within proper range.
Edit:
To the OP, you should be able to train more than one combat type ability to low level pets. You will need to just keep leveling them because the combat abilities usually cost more training xp per ability. 15 iirc

I was killing Cl 45-65 creatures I tried to see what would happen if I stored him and pulled him again tried to attack again and the xp went up and still did not rollover ...Thats when i got frustrated and added Vig health L1 it simply did not want to give me anymore training points so I could put a 14pt ability on ...
So I went and tried a CL 2 rasp whenI tamed him he Had eye gouge L1 I trained him up and added KD to him then reached the same point that i did with the I think its called a chuba CL2 and the xp just would not rollover to allow for the 2nd 14 pt ability thus I had to load another 5 pt ability which maid him fully trained...
