Thread: This is starting to become ridiculous.

Alright I am really failing to see what is so great about the new CH changes. Can someone enlighten me please? I got me a BE lvl 8 cu pa I am grinding to maturity and so far he has 3 training abilities and 840 training points and I have grinded him over and over and over and he has yet to grow any more so that he can be mounted. Can someone please tell me why that is? Grinding pets to growth has got to be one of the dumbest things I have yet to see done to this profession. I been CH from the very beginning and dealt with all the nerfs we been handed, but more and more they change on it makes it more easier for me to decide on giving it up. No ones going to want to pay to have a pet grinded for a mount when it'd be cheaper to purchase a speeder and I don't know to many ch's that want to grind these mounts up like this. What kind of stupid idea was this to grind pets in the first place? How real is that? Seriously I mean I been working this little guy non-stop since I was asked to mount him, but this BS is crazy insane. If I wasn't a vet CH with pets already I'd drop this profession in a heart beat. No way a CH should have to grind pets in order to grow up. Just no way that makes any kind of sense what so ever. To think some genious actually collects a check to come up with these ideas. lol

Go to the BE Forums, there's a sticky on BE made pets that will tell you why your CL 8 Cu Pa will NEVER EVER be able to be mounted... If I knew how to make a clicky for you... I would... Just look for my user name in the sticky section...

and sorry for what you are going to read...

yeah!!! its a shame, but some pets simply can not be mounted now. though you have a crap load of skill points to use on the little guy. you could make him an agroing little tank for a non-ch. Think of this, you train it with hamstring lvl3, thick skinlvl3 and knockdown/dizzy or bleed lvl3 and sell it to a BH or to a ranger or mele fighter. it migth not be too bad in that capcity.

OK Just found it. Thanks for the info. bud least I know to stop working on this little guy now since it does me no good no more. Guess I will have to track a wild one now. IfI wasn't mad before I am now. You would think they'd send something out on these changes either in ingame mail or something for those who don't surf forums to often. This is just great though. Looks like they sliced the throats of both the CH's and BE's all in one swift swoop. Nice going DEVS way to keep the professions alive. Before long all BE's and CH's will have going out of buisness signs up on thier stores. Realy starting to miss the days of the solo missions. Least then you could use those to stay a float.

Oh don't know how to make sticky either, but here is the link addy I was referanced to for anyone who wants to read it. Best of luck to those of us left still doing these professions.

Ummm there is a huge problem with what your saying. Each level of special is one slot so a L3 ability requires 3 ability slots. What this means is you have a choice of 3-4 ability slots all level 1, t abilites at level 2 or one level 3 ability (with a L1 ability).

DoH!! you are right!! whoops, sorry I havent traind any pets as of yet, just been trying to learn then RELEASE them to get more. but now that I look at what I wrote..its azz sdarwkcab...sorry about that. though I still think you could sell such a pet with even lvl 1 skills to a hunter, if you did it right, you could make alittle tank that at least puts a state on like bleed or hamstring, that way you could just keep your target countinuesly gimped, as you hit/shoot/broil/ or stab it to death.

as it stands, i don't think it's really that bad right now.

Pros

  • tamed babies have full strength immediately

  • learned specials are yours forever

  • pet specials seem to work really well (all the ones i've tested)

  • pet size changes

Cons

  • grinding pet xp for growth

  • random nature of learning specials / earning training slots

  • can't unlearn pet specials

  • pet size changes

i'm actually really liking the cool specials. it's giving me a reason to tame creatures i wouldn't have bothered wit before. and they're pretty effective. added to the specials i have as pistoleer, it makes for a great combat advantage.

i also like the new pet size changes. it's true that <CL10 cu pas can no longer be mounted, which stinks a litte, but i like how high CL BE pets are humongous, and how, if you wanted to, you can grind a pet to a certain size and then stop.

overall, i certainly do not think these are negative changes. I'm having a lot of animal fun again, and it's bringing back fond memories of my solo grind through the CH tree. I also like grinding my low-CL pets for mounting, since it's super easy to level up a CL10. For those of ou struggling with this grind, I just go to Mos Espa, go outside the city, and destroy the groups of CL1-5 MOBs over and over again. If you don't group your pet, it takes about an hour to get them fully grown, and open all 4 slots with 65-85 training points.

Well, just as a counterpoint, the recent changes to Creature Handler are what inspired me to respec out of Pistoleer. I liked playing a hunter in WoW even though I got tired of the game after awhile. The new CH system has all of the features that I enjoyed while I was a hunter over there.

I've got a long ways to go (only 1111 currently) but so far I give it a "thumbs up".
