Ok, here's the deal.. I'm looking to get a pet or two that will help me to tank some of the harder mobs in the game. I have enough skill points left to attain any two trees in the CH profession, so my questions are, what two trees would be the mose useful, and what kind of creatures could I expect to be able to utilize with those two trees.
Of course I would require the pets to be BE'd for durability, if that matters. I would prefer to keep the pets 'small' so they don't fill up my entire screen, and I can see what I'm shooting at, however I know swg many times takes a 'bigger is better' approach.
pets that have state attacks like dizzy/kd would be extremely useful, but aren't necessary. also, i doubt there is a way to work in light saber resistance, but hey.. I can always hope right

0/0/0/4 is a must becaus it lets you call 2 pets and train mounts. that will raise you CL for pets to 24. and take either 4/0/0/0 or 0/4/0/0 because those give bonuses to taming. Then get a +25 Taming shirt because thats the max clothing mod that counts(it will still show on your stats if you buy and equip several pices of +25 clothing but only the initial +25 will count) so with 2 trees you will be able to tame a CL36 creature (12CL for novice +14 per extra tree) that should allow you to get a good BE Graul or Rancor. although you will probably have to wear the clothing to call or tame it.
Also if your just interested in PVE dont bother with resistances other than kinetic and to a lesser extent electric because some npc's do use blasters. And if you want you pet to be a super tank get him buffed while the +3k HAMdosent make much difference with a pet that already has 11k HAM the real difference is in the secondaries. Since most pets have secondaries around 40 they dont regenerate but if you get their secondaries buffed your pet will be an uber tank. Just remember that if you store your pet or if it autostores it loses its buffs and you have to get more.
Hope you enjoy the CH profession.

ok, that sounds good.. now lets say I just want to buy my pets and use them to augment my combat skills (same idea, I can afford 2 trees)..
do I still need taming? if not, will I be able to potentially increase the level/toughness of my creatures?
sorry for asking so many questions, but I am still very new to swg. I've spent probably a month building up my character right now, and I've made several mistakes that I've had to go back and rethink/sell skills back etc. While I love the flexibility offered in swg, I don't really have all the time in the world to play and grind my way though professions. I'm a firm believer in PLAYING the game, so I don't want to macro anything.. so any further help you can provide, would not only save my sanity, but also my time
thanks

No you don't need taming if you're just using BE creatures, just buy a sunguard with +25 to taming or something.
