I've read a lot here about the 'tellpet' command being bugged, but has anyone else found it to be planet related?
I set up a macro to broadcast my training availability, and ended it with 'tellpet up' (the command for my humbaba Mahdi to perform trick one - the idea being that it would be easy for people to see me in our server's crowded Coronet if I were standing near a performing humbaba!).
Tried editing, but no joy. Using the 'up' command in normal speech worked fine, however.
I took a flight to Naboo later, and as there were a few people standing around, I called my pet and triggered the macro. This time, up went Mahdi at the end of my 'broadcast' like a good 'un. Tried again - no fluke, the macro worked as expected.
Any reason why this should be planet related?

tellpet was bugged about a year ago but I have noticed, or read, about any bugs lately. It works fine for me. Not calling you a liar or anything....just that I haven't noticed these things.
Also, to be sure your macro is bugged on Corellia, you should head back there to try it again. Perhaps there was just some freaky glitch that made your pet not respond to it but now that glitch is fixed.
I have also noticed at times that the graphics of my pet tricks will not work (in other words, it doesn't look like they do the trick) but their mind is healed anyways. Its just like they are standing there and drink some blue milk. Perhaps that was what was happening to you in Cnet.
Just some ideas for ya to think about. Good luck.

For what I've seen there's two components to the /tellpet bug. One is that single letter commands don't appear to work with tellpet. This is okay since if you're using /tellpet already you're gonna macro the thing anyway so making your macro "/tellpet Spuds Jump" is easy enough.
The other bug if it exists is person/account/server specific. Some people will swear to their deity of choice that /tellpet doesn't always work for them, or doesn't ever work for them, while others (like myself) ONLY use /tellpet for commands and never ever have a problem with it. Generally people for whom the commands work think the people who claim there is a bug are insane, but /shrug I'm able to imagine that SOE screwed the code up enough to make a person specific bug

If I may try to clarify for Bynder, what I pull from what he stated is it may simply boil down to ISP/Client Computer/Server Stability(you can pitch lag filled areas like Coronet or Dantooine in here.
I am on dialup far out in the sticks. Somewhat over RECOMMENDED (not min) requirements. It is likely I get bugged /tellpet because I get stuck in lagspikes from my bad connection or artowrk rendering bogs down my computer as I am sending the command. Although, in my defense I do play with most extras turned off or down to include I do not play with sounds. So as asked, could this just be a bug that does not effect some because they have reliable internet connections and god-ware gaming computers?
For me the realm of possibility is that this bug creeps up because:
1) my connection sucks
or
2) my computer cannot render everything without chat bogging down to the point that /tellpet never gets sent or is delayed.
In order to disprove this we need more data.

/tellpet doesn't work for me. Ever. I have to issue commands from spatial. I've bugged it, as well as another seemingly "person-specific bug" I have where my Mind doesn't regenerate as it should and is used faster than it should while Doc and Food buffed...
I firmly believe that there are character specific problems

The /tellpet command suffers from lag badly, in areas like coronet and such it sometimes doesn't work at all.
For the last poster, you probably migrated your stats and neglected mind secondaries (as a twi'lek I know how that is since our focus and willpower cap at 500, while a human can have 1100 for both. All Twi'lek stats cap very low, but that's another matter entirely).

/tellpet works on and off for me. I've observed that the more server lag, the more /tellpet does not work. Interesting aside: I have sometimes used /yell and had my pets respond from over 250m away. Guess I got a loud voice!

Hmm, I think I will try the macro again on Corellia, as suggested, but I think those who said it might be lag-related are onto something, as I never have any lag in Theed (it's usually deserted) compared to Coronet.
Thanks for your suggestions.

Ya, the same thing happened to me a couple days ago. The weird thing was it was only for one command, attack. If I did any other command it would work.
When I logged on the next day it was working normally though.
Not sure if its really the planet that is the factor of if its the lag and server load thats the real issue.
I was in coronet when I first saw it didn't work and then went to talus (which is usually lagless) and it still wasn't working.
Though my attack command is one word only, so it may be that. But other commands that were one word worked fine at that time...

Either lag, or the pet's so confused by the spammers that he doesn't notice you whispering to him lol...I vote lag, because the only time my pet has ignored /tellpet is in Cnet, but I don't use 1- or 2-letter commands, except for trick 1, which is usually "up".
