i know this used to be a rock beetle but i am behind the times...what is it now?

not sure there is a wild tamed non ch pet that anyone would want for fighting, unless they are just starting out. Wild pets under lvl 11 are pretty weak.... but maybe someone else would have a suggestion.
You might still be able to get a non ch BE pet with 2k+ HAM if it has low damage. You would have to check with the BEs. Don't forget to make sure the BE pet you buy is in a non agro skin. A gurrcat is a good choice if you want it to travel with you, or something like a Kaadu or Dewback if you want a mount.
Then there is always a probot, might want to check that out too.
