... I am seeing more babies than I have before. This was on Tatooine this morning. Two lairs in a row had two babies each. Most lairs had one baby. The highest difficultywere not that high admittedly, some rats that would be 22 fully grown, but we are talking some serious CH exp one I teach them commands and release them.

But for lower levels, a lot of babies, even crummy ones, means a lot of XP. And a lot more fun for me. I love stumbling around lost in the wilderness taming babies. It is a role-playing thing.

You have a better gain in CH xp taking a small pet, for me its a carrion spat, and killing spawn around the dearic area. You will always gain better xp with a combat CH, than a taming CH, hand over foot.

I guess it depends on what you're fighting. I get around 100XP for each creature I tame, plus another 100XP for each command I teach it. With my low level, I have 4 commands I can teach, so that's a total of 500XP per creature (or thereabouts). I can do this all in a minute or two.

As for combat, I get around 100 CH XP for each kill my Spat is involved with. My combat skills suck a bit at the moment, so I can't take on mobs that are too tough, otherwise they'll just trounce me. Getting 500 combat related CH XP takes me a little longer, but then it gives me weapon XP as well.

Getting into a group is a different matter, and this can get you some tougher mobs to fight for more combat related XP.

Personally I enjoy the taming aspect. I was quite chuffed at getting my first creature (the Spat), and I'm quite looking forward to taming other tougher creatures.

JustG, 25 Nov 03: "I will tell you this, Droids (and DE's) are going to be the MAIN feature for the January publish. We will be fixing alot of things and adding combat droids.Yes, talk is cheap."
JustG, 04 Feb 04: "Lucas and SOE agreed that Publish 6 would be focussed on the Imperial Crackdown. Droids are not the MAIN focus. We plan on implementing combat droids in P7, and Utility Droids in P8."

Completely untrue, once you get partway up the CH path. The way to get exp these days is with the tame, train, release process. That is once you get 8+ commands to train. As I approach MCH I can teach up to 17 commands, that is almost 2k exp per tame. Even quicker is to buy a bunch of junk pets from a BE, and go have a training field day.

Even back in the good old days of twice the XP for both pets out, TTR was a major source of XP, especially when you had 13-15 commands to teach. At 100 XP per command, it added up fast.

It's not just you, I started noticing this right after the patch. My city is about 2 clicks from Coronet. I headed out to coronet and founds lots of babies, but I also found solo babies. I walked instead of riding and trained 6 on the way. I've been noticing alot more now myself.

I am past TTR (MCH now) but when I try to train the pets I have tamed it is taking me three attempts almost every time per command. That gets old in a real hurry. Oddly enough my BE pets only require one attempt.

So long and thanks for all the fish.
