The pet trade in doesn't work on the Cupa because there are no wild CL 10 or under versions of it. Be glad the trainer didn't take it, for awhile they would and spit back a Kwi (which of course can't be ridden). Really the pet trade in feature was meant for people who had pets left over in their datapad from the creature lvl and Non CH pet adjust in December. It's not supposed to be a regular "pet swap".

some time ago I did something stupid. I gave a friend my favored pet as a Non-CH a CuPa, this Cupa didn't have uber stats it had enough stats and attack power to survive yet not the the equivalant a jedi animal. I am looking on bria for someone who has a Cupa like that. I found many uber Non CH cupas and realize why tehy may be getting nerfed...10 k ham and a strong poison is stupid and it was 450k I could never afford it. But anyways I bought a CuPa for 20k that was CL 11 it's stats seemed perfect Health 4447 Action 4501 m 1908 and damage 55-65 no ranged attack special was dizzy strike. See not stellar but okay he'd be a great mount slash somewhat hunting buddy. Unfortunatly I went to do the CL trade in to get him down to CL 10. The CH trainer said that he could not trade in that pet. wasted 20k.
So now to the actual point. Besides teh devs having a sick sense of humor. Is there anyone on Bria who could tame or make a CL 10 CuPa that has stats around that and doesn't charge alot of money?
