Thread: the logic behind CH xp

I'm relatively new to CH (0-1-0-4) and I've been experimenting on how i can maximize my xp. This isn't about what I need to fight to get the most xp (I've already seen the other 500 posts about that). I want to know what factors contribute to the CH xp that you recieve.

I usually hunt voritor hunters on Dant. With myCL 10 BE gurreck (3k ham, 40-50 hit) i get 740xp for each voritor. With myCL 16 non-BE plains tusk cat (3.9k HAM, 150-160 hit) i get 1024xp per kill. With myCL 21 BE razor cat (4k HAM, 300-310 hit) I get 600-700 xp (dont remember for sure) per kill.

Here's where I'm confused. At first i thought that the higher the pet lvl, the more xp, but i get less with the lvl 21. Can't be the HAM because they are all roughly the same. One thingthat i thought of is that the tusk cat is non-BE so maybe i get more xp. But even then i have a CL 14 non-BEslice houndwhich gives me the lowest xp of all, even lower than the CL 10 gurreck. Is it something simple likea cap on the creature lvl such that you get more xp for a higherCL up to a certain point or i there an equation which takes all stats of your pet into consideration?

I understand that there is often no rhyme or reason for the way things are in this game, but surely this can be calculated somehow.

Thanks,

I just made master ch last night, and pretty quickly too! The thing I seemed to notice the most is the lower lvl creature I used, the more xp I got. And it makes sense to me, because the lower the level the harder it is to keep your creature alive against vor hunters or creatures of equivalent. I did the same as you, I mainly went after vor hunters, sometimes solo, sometimes with a group, and I used a lvl 17 non-BE creature and received 1000 xp for each vor. Also, no matter what planet I was on, if I saw a baby I would train, if possible skill wise of course, and then release if I didnt want it.

I hoped that hoped some, if not, respecify anything, or send me a message, I'll be glad to give what specifics I can!!

Thanks for the reply. From my personal experiences, from what i've pieced together on the boards and from your exampleit looks like pets CL 16-19 are the best for some reason. It makes sensethat the lower level pet, the better, but the CL 10 BE gurreck gives me less xp than the CL 16 tusk cat. So I'm still confused.

I think (and this is only in theory) that the bio-eng pets, though they may be a low level, they are altered and therefore better than there wild equivalents, therefore for the sake of xp are considered of a higher level!!
Hope that helps!

For 2k ch Xp a kill Must be able to use a tuskcat bocat or Narglatch go to lok join a kimo party and fight there and recall yer pet befor it dies ya will get 2k+ each kill its pretty fast i did it with my boccat back then when ye could see pple with 3 full grown rancors out still im told the xp is the same so thats a good way i suggest having giant sand beetle babies they spit good range less chance of death . Also try Krytes Dragons prolly same xp just a lil more dangerous.

Emphasis on the "no rhyme or reason" part. I knew this crowdwould get a kick out of that. Thanks for the replies.

My conclusion = No one knows.

I do not believe you should get less CH XP when you use a higher level pet. I am also a Rifleman and I dont get less XP when i use a more powerful rifle.

Why should we be punished for having and usingbetter creatures?

I was also surprised to learn that my level 4 (still growing to CL22) BE razor cat gave only about half the exp that my full grown BE eopie (CL15)

Now I really don't know how it works, I'm gonna try and find a decent non BE pet that can stay alive, maybe it gives more exp

i've been using two different BE'd pets so far in my grind. I'm currently 4/1/1/2 and have gotten all of this using a l vl 14 BE Verne and an lvl 18 BE Gurrcat. Grinding on the spawnin the geo cave i've noticed a difference between the two pets. The verne gets me rougly 800xp per kill and the gurrcat gets around 1200. while i would prefer to use the verne because of its ranged attack, the gurrcat has a much faster attack speed, the problem with this is that the gurrcat gets messed up if he gets stuck in the middle of a fight. its not too bad, i just need a place to grind when the geo cave is going through its slow spawn time. any suggestions?

I believe it's not about what level your pet is. It's the relative level between your pet and your target. IE if you use a really small pet (lvl 10) against a rancor, you don't get much xp (because it's obvious you're just sending your pet it right at the end to do 20 damage and hope for your CH xp). Whereas if you use a level 20 per against a rancor, you get 1400 xp per kill. I think in order to maximize your xp you need to use low level pets against low level mobs and medium level pets against medium and high level mobs. Just my 2 cents anyway
