ranged attack is no trainable ability, but a "skill" certain creatutes have - like crystal snakes.

Yeah, as I understand it, it means it has an innate ranged attack ability. I have one pet that does the same ting too. I have amacro to tell it to go ranged. I belive it gives it teh command to go ranged over melee, however it will still go melee if close enough to the target. I do belive it is a toggle on/toggle off abilty. I have found that when the ranged attack it toggled on, it will do its special througth the ranged attack about 50% of the timeor go to melee to do it. hope that helps ya.
