Maybe , I am exaggerating, but SOE have announced that :


... The 8 player Tatooine Sand Skiff will now be invulnerable to Lava ( in addition to the Lava skiff)


so dont expect to see too many players hopping arond on slow old fleas !

unless (gasp) the skiff is even slower then the flea or lars speeder. (which any mount me thinks can out run at the moment )

unfourtunelty..it is not. not fast but faster than the flea. also what was stated was nto that the 6 person skiff is nto INVULNARABEL to lava damadge, but that players will not get splash damadge. vehicles will deffintly take damadge over lava, or at least in my experience, though player damadge will be limited...I think.

i thought they might do something like that, mainly because of the complaints they got in betafrom predictablyimpatient morons who cant wait to get anywhere.


ps. I believe the skiff is actually around the same speed as an AV-21 landspeeder, maybe a little slower, but just appears really slow cos its massive. Someone did a timed test in the beta i think.

Imanaged to dig this up from the beta foums - looks like its around as fast as a swoop actually ..

Well, and remember that only pre-orders get the skiff, whereas all persons purchasing the expansion will get the flea.


Also, if you have a Jedi/Alt situation, only one of those two characters will get the flea, so if you want a 2nd flea you'll have to get one from another player


Now, it would have been *nice* if there had been non-CH level 10 Fleas that could be tamed and trained so CH's could provide Mustafarian mounts.

The flea is good fun - i wish it was a tad quicker though, hopefully thats been tweaked. To be completely honest though i cant see alot of people using it more than for novelty value.


I know i should be promoting mounts here, but Isuggest youtrymustopha with a lava vunerable bike at some point aswell, it does make getting around a bit of a mental challenge, but you can pull off some awsome jumps, and get away with your life by the skin of your teeth - its not the same at all if there is no punishment for not making them - i really thought it added another dimension to the planet.

As with now, there will be times that you'll want to use your mount over a speeder type. Remember there still will be vehicle damage from regular use. If you have to keep pulling it and putting it away, damage will rack up pretty quick on the skiff.

When you think about it, aren't almost all of the original professions iconic? You can find something on each of them in the Expanded Universe.


I miss being a Ranger. It was more than a profession, it was a virtual way of life. It wasn't for everyone. But those who took it up became family.

Information about mount and vehicle speeds may be found at the link shown below. Speeds have been inconsistent lately. I'll continue testing.

Well, the thing might BE fast, but it is very unweildy and FEELS slow.
