Now the pet's level no longer effects the group level.
Why is this important? Well... it's all about the damage mitigation. Basically, if you attack something above your combat level, you do MUCH less damage to him, and he does MUCH more damage to you.
Well... add this to the fact that the WHOLE REASON we have pets is to increase our combat effectiveness. Which now no longer exists.
Because if we attack ANYTHING above our natural CL... we do little or no damage. AT ALL. So basically, the pet is useless.
Tanking? Why bother. It cons white or we die.
I LOVE my pets, but now they're going to sleep in my datapad forever.
Well, at least I was just told where I'll get that line in fencer I now need.

It makes no odds, they changed group level to reflect the highest CL member of the group a couple of patches back.

Gadon, yoiu do not know what you are talking about. Absolutely not true.
Is there a way to add an /iignore to the forums, because this guy offers nothing of substance to any discussion.

Gadon, Joker and Jaeryk are ALL right on this one, Group CL is determined by the highest member of the group. As Joker has already pointed out in another thread if you are a CL(80) character, your pet(s) will also be CL(80) if grouped with you.Removing pets has no significant impact on CH other than to stop Imps grouping with their AT-ST's and artificially inflating their CL to over a 100.
I do have other concerns over this though which I will address separately, namely Non-CH level 10 Bio-Engineered critters (or for that matter even just old Plain jane non-CH pets)ending upas CL(80)when grouped and just as effective as aGPSto a Master Handler? Thats what I'm currently gearing up to test.

This MAY be true on the CURB (I don't know, haven't logged into TC for a week, got tired of incessantly reporting bugs, more interested in playing SWG than an accursed elf game) but it's not true on live now. Adding pets does affect the level of missions you can get, so this is definitely another nerf.

It's not a nerf, because now your CL accurately reflects your abilities so you can pull missions which are appropriate. You will not, however, be able to pull missions which should require a group and farm cash to the point where items go for tens of millions of credits due to the horribly inflated economy.
Oh, and all the rest of you are witnesses! Even when I post constructively and just put info down I get flamed! It's not my fault for once

So, now, tell me. What happends to the MDE or Master Shipwright who is checking his harvesters and has his faithful Combat R3 unit(silliest think I have ever seen, but ok). How is the droid supposed to protect him? And don't say PSG, remember PSG only protects you from ENERGY attacks. I personnaly have not seen too many shaupot hunters toting blasters, but maybe I need to get out more.
My 2 cents. Back to Arachne Widow hunting.

i think this makes it so an ATST can't make imperials in a lvl 125 group without anyone else. i think everyone can agree this is a good think.
also.. CH has a character level built into the skill boxes. there is no need to have a pet out and grouped to get missions appropriate for your level. (post CU)

The DEVs dont get out much either I see. When I first started playing this game I became a miner (surveyor and harvester). I quickly found that going to my harvesters was a pain so I *did* try to hire bodyguards. I even got a friend or 2 started into the game to do this. Alas following me around while I explore and get stuff from my machines was too boring for them so I took up CH. Up till the vehicles came out they were my trusted and loyal and patient companions. Never complaining about following me around. Never whining about having to save me yet one more time. It was good. Then vehicles came out and the pets kept getting stuck ( they did before but I was always near so I could yell at them to get them unstuck ) Shortly after that the big NERF bat hit so I stopped calling them out at all except for show on occasion. The vehicle allowed me to outrun attackers near my harvesters. If I really needed to get to a harvester I could wait 45 sec to call my pets unless on an adventure planet where I got real good at sneaking up to my harvesters.
Hmmm I think I lost my point in there. sigh. However I remain an MCH cause it is the most fun profession I tried in the is game. As to the *hire bodyguards* comment from the devs, why do they think anyone would want to do that and if it was for the money you can imagine how much resources would cost. No more 1cpu grind metal.

But you are forgetting, your skills at CH are already factored into the equation without having to call pets to do it. It is kinda like always having your maximum lvl of pets called out.

I know what the Dev said in the chat. That is why I think they really need to fix this. I can see the problem with grouping with a ATST giving the "group level" 125, or what ever the ATST is. But this really does not do a thing for the NON-combat crafters. I am a MCH and plan to never drop it, I also have Swordsman currently as well as BE. So I can protect myself. But my daughter is all crafter, and will have a very hard time trying to get to her harvesters and such, even with a combat probot.
But what really ticked me off was the "use a PSG" statement. Unless they are giving the PSGs a major overhaul and have them protect against "KINETIC" damage, they are usless.
Ok, another 2 cents.
