ok initiates dont get vis...
i am a padawan that has lost over 700k xp in the last week, what would happen if i gave up padawan and did my grind as an initiate??? if it's just a matter of getting my LS back in 9 quests...
i am at that vulnerable stage not alot or reg combat (TK) and only 0402 LS 2000 enh and novice healer
so if i could grind in peace i'd gladly give up padawan for awhile??
any imput would be muchly appriciated

Jedi ARE special on the ground, though ... we're the only players to be hunted by other players, and the only players to require loot for weapons. As for being 1.5 times other professions, I think somebody needs a reality check on THAT one ... but that's neither here nor there. It's the Jedi who think they deserve something in space because if it that get flamed.

It is something. You can hear the Jedi hammering on the door, collectively. I have heard these phrases quite often as late "Deserve" and "Earned". Jedi is certainly a special branch, different from all the other Ground trees in that a fairly long quest is required to unlock it, and then a good deal of grinding is needed to finish it off. The aspect of being Hunted also represents a difference, though, I would point out to those who feel that they, themselves, are Special, that grinding is a way of life for an MMO player, as are quests. While Jedi are engaged with their own tasks and goals, life goes on, people grind Chef (a Formerly Merciless, ruthless, grind), Carbineer, what - have - you, the difference being that, when those chars are rarely ever "Done". The older a character is, the more likely it will carry a string of Master Badges, or, a history of professions dabbled in. It's no real surprise that more and more people are going Jedi; The path is known, the tree has a romantic appeal, and, possibly most important... it's something to Do.
This isn't a thread about Jedi in space
But the issue seems to pop up in most new topics these days. As well as in Guild Chat on a far more regular basis than I can ever recall.
If the question wasn't answered fully enough in the posts above, The JSF and Grevious Fighter are certed at 4-3-3-3 of ANY Faction tree. There is presently no ship in the game that is opened at a higher level and capable of being used below that level by another faction. You do get the xp bonus for having Aced one faction already, as has been pointed out. It makes leveling that much quicker, in terms of xp
Though, what really helps the most seems to be
- Your familiarity with where to go and how to get it done
- Your actual, honest to goodness skills -- something You carry with you from tree to tree
- Decent ship parts! Most new pilots seem to suffer greatly from not knowing What is a true, decent, subcomponent, and what is run of the mill or, just downright crap. Let alone where to get those parts, or who will RE them when they collect what they need! (something that can take weeks of farming, apparently :/ hehe)
You certainly have a leg up on a green pilot. I accidently lost my Ace Pilot Sunday Night. Starting again Monday Morning, helping a friend, and just enjoying the grind, I'll be my first box in tier 4 in two more missions. I'm going up neutral this time, grabbing the JSF, Acing the tree and then dropping it for Rebel again. ![]()

You asked if you could use the JSF at Tier 1.
And yes, you do get a starship combat xp bonus for each pilot profession you master(Rebel, Freelance, and Imp; for a max of a 3x xp bonus added to the base xp)

No, you won't be able to use your JSF at Tier 1. Despite being an Ace pilot previously, you will still be required to get the Tier 4 ships box to fly your JSF. Yes, you will get the XP bonus.
As I side note, I like this part:
Clearly, the message that we don't think Jedi are special is getting around.
