Some love their pets, some are waiting for the (mystical?) combat revamp, others just love the profession. And as one person's sig says 'No matter how much we get nerfed we're still the coolest class in the game'.

This is probably what i dont understand. I have a datapad full of pets and at the end of the day, they r all meat shields.
How can someone 'love' there pets? They dont talk, most cant actually tank anymore thx to the nerf and it just makes me wonder why ppl refuse to drop what is probably one of the worse profs in the game atm.
It does look cool, i'll admit that and back in the day my grauls with there resists saved my life more than buffs ever have. If i played my alt i would drop ch and it wouldnt bother me in anyway.
Fair play to ppl who really like the prof and gl to u all, hopefully the revamp will put ch back on top like it was last year

I keep CH simply because I enjoy playing it far more than any other class, and I've tried most of them.

in PvE so far my pets to just fine ... in fights all the way up to DWB mobs ... no they don't do a ton of damage .. but if you want more damage make sure to use a pet with a strong poision or something along that line ...
yeah PvP sucks with them .. but that is not the only reason i got this game ... if you are just a solo grouper then yeah i can see where you may not like fighting with em to much ... but get in a group with 2 or 3 other CH's and you might actually enjoy playing more ... if not then it just might be a time for a skill change for you ...
everything in the game is broke .. so you just have to pick which of the broken toys you enjoy the most.

CH + BE pets make for a good CH. CH + wild pets make for a lot of disappointment.
The thing I love about CH is the fact I don't have to tank mobs, CH have different pets for different jobs and they still do a decent job at what they are meant to do, and that is be a meat shield. Melee stackers can do the same job but their whole template is built around doing just that. CH can give you that plus allow you to do a whole lot more.
For tanking multiple kinetic only mobs I have my 3x CL23 BE Cats, HAM is about 8k avg, light armour, 60% kinetic resists, each has Knockdown and Dizzy for special attacks. Their damage is feeble, something like 150-180 each i think but their whole point is to keep mobs off me, especially in places where you have large numbers of mobs.
When I am doing my missions against humanoids who are shooters then I usually take my 2x CL35 BE Cats, HAM is about 10k avg, light armour, 55% kinetic resists and most other resists are in the 30s or 40s. They can mix it up with all sorts of damage coming at them and can get hit a bit hard with some specials but generally they tank very well. Their damage is around 300s each and both again have KD/Dizzy.
Then there is my little baby, my BE Kimo. CL70, 13k HAM, light armour, 60% kinetic and most resists are fairly good. Hits for 580-590 has Strong Poison and Strong Disease attacks. If i am fighting things i need help to kill and they mobs are not too large in numbers then my Kimo rocks.
I also have an almost exact duplicate of my kimo but its a dewback mount. I sometimes ride around on him and he takes some hits for me, I am not exactly defenseless outside of CH as I have taken up BH aswell, an awesome combo as I can lay down some good ranged damage and pets are great support and mean I dont have to rely on buffs even when soloing.
Wild pets are just... bleh. I'm not going to waste twleve months doing missions hoping for an ultra rare wild creature baby to show its head, knowing my luck I'd kill it by accident.
Yes, my pets are a meat shield but I am quite attached to my pets. I don't let them die intentionally, don't leave them to fight and die while I run away, I love my pets.
