Thread: What destroyed SWG for me...
Hello:
I 'm going to take some time to write about my SWG online experience. The first day I played I was amazed at the beauty of the game, the great movement of the characters, the creatures, everything was a WOW! I was a very avid player at first. Then after a while I start to see how players were using pets and robots to level up at ridiculous short times. There werenewbies all over walking around with Rancor pets and what have you. Players with 3or so robots, and a large amount of players started to pop up with Master Creature Handler titles at an insane rate. I was playing every single day, however I was not advancing anywhere that fast or had access to money or things the way I saw other have. Then I realized that the game was published with HUGE glitches and that a lot of players who had in their mind to take advantage of glitches where using them all along. Glitches such as using a command to give unlimited experience to a novice Creature Handler and in 2 days you became a Master Creature Handler, and some others. These glitches were fixed later on, after a lot of players got their CH masteries with it. Then, after I finally became a Creature Handler Master and was able to solo anything in the game including the meanest monsters, then I realized that there was no fun in the game anymore. It just stop being fun that I could kill any huge monster by myself.
Issue: I think what has ruined this game more than anythingare the pets. Players should have never been allowed to have any animal pet they like or see. There shouldn't have been any Creature Handler able to tame nothing higher than a mid level pet. And all the other regular players should have been only able to have a Bio-engineer made pet. The game just becomes stupid to play once u have a Gurreck or one of those mean lion faced spiders. There is just no more a sense of challenge like I had when I was low level.
The game, in my experience was ruined because of all the stupid huge pets that players have been allowed to have., no more the feeling of fun or WOW!once you have the meanest animals in the game as pet. Killing hugeanimals should have been a group effort only and not a solo experience with huge pets. That's totally ridiculous game play. Needless to sayI hardly play SWG online any more. I am just waiting to see the mounts and experience it. Not sure at this point if I stay. Too bad, it still is a beautiful game world.
Other major issues, Bio Engineer never worked the way it was suppose to, why was the game released with such major incompleteness? The other professions also had issues. The game was pretty, yes, but pretty isn't going to last long with the major issues that hinder the fun factor.

People like you that come onto the CH forums for the sole purpose of whining about pets.
Also, why is the focus of a Star Wars game "to kill huge creatures"? Ask yourself that one, too.
Try a little R of the MMORPG. If fighting is all you want yeah this is probably not the game for you. This is and always will be more of a casual players game than a game geared for the power levelling type like Everquest. There is a lot of fun to be had in this game outside of fighting.
Oh, so you mean being forced to group like in EQ? Where you can't often get your spells, components, quest items, or anything really, or go anywhere after a certain level without a group?
SWG was not designed in the spirit of Everquest where you have to group for the majority of things but where you don't have to group for the majority of things.
I hated grouping in EQ, to often I got stuck with some yutz who had not a clue what they were doing, wouldn't heal me when I'm down, would draw the aggro, would try argue over loot. It was pathetic and I hated it wich is why I don't play EQ anymore and exactly why I DO NOT WANT SWG TO BECOME GROUP ORIENTED. Cept in certain areas were its just friendly but in anything combat related it can stay on the back burner for all I care.
What ruined it for me (or almost has) is all the class envy posters who try to get everything nerfed before addressing the lack of content and game breaking bugs.
Pets have not ruined this game. Devs have in so many ways. One includes listening to the nerf herders before fixing what is broken.
I love when people say "I became a MCH and the game got too easy for me, it was no fun." First thought I get is, liar, you are not a MCH, never were.
Second thought is, give the person some credit and believe them. OK.
Third thought is, if they really were a MCH and the game was too easy, why didnt you drop the skill and go out as a sadomasochist and fight on Dathomir with a cdef and a mouse droid after becoming a master chef?

If you were a MCH like you said you were, you'd know a "lion faced spider" is a merik and it's a monkey head, not a lion.
Go ruin someone else's profession.
