My main was a CH a looong time ago around the beginning of 2004 and remembering the fun I used to have I respecced my alt with her final respec to MCH - I bought a few BE pets to start with to get a feel for things again and when doing level 80 odd missions the pets were doing the following damage:

2 level 35 Gurrecks - damage statsaround 48 - 250 - these did around 23 damage per hit to a level 80 bol

1 level 70 Razor cat - damage stats around 105 - 418 - This did around 97 damage per hit to a level 80 bol.

Is this right?? It seems mighty low considering the skillpoint requirements for MCH. I took this up with MBH thinking I might consider taking on the odd Jedi with my pets but is this at all viable. I know I can add the daamge I deal to overall damage dealt but I cant help but think the pets will be nothing more than a distraction to a Jedi ??

Any comments welcome

Are you grouped with your pets when you see this damage?

To me, it sounds like you are ungrouped. This means that the damage that they are dealing is based on the pets CL vs the targets CL. If you group up with the pets, you should see a little damage increase, since their base CL will be your base CL.

Some things to keep in mind....

BE pet hit about once every .75 seconds. This means that they actaully deal more damage, since your own DPS is based on an average of what you will hit for every second.

Turn on Verbose Combat spam. This will give you an idea of how much pet damage is being reduced by.

Damage is adjusted based on CL. Well, technically, I think it's adjusted by comparing the attacker's accuracy to the defender's defense (ranged or melee depending on type of attack), but those stats are basically set by CL, so it boils down to the same thing.

So your CL 35 Gurrecks vs.a CL 80 mob is going to get a large reduction in damage. The CL 70 cat will have a smaller reduction.

The way to deal with this is to group with your pets. For purposes of damage adjustment, a group member's CL is considered to be the same as the highest CL of the group. If you're CL 80, your pets will be treated as CL 80, and you should see the damage increase to around mid-way in their min/max damage range (around 150 for the gurrecks and 250 for the cat).

I can't imagine you'd be getting those numbers if you were grouped. I'm currently using a CL 23 female razor cat (tamed from the wild) and she does around 130 while grouped with me against mobs of my CL.
