Price check on Rancor...
Also, can anyone tell me how the Gnarled Rancor differs from the Rancor (aside from lower HAM and resists)?

The gnarled rancor is CL 45, while a rancor is CL 50. Which means, basically, that the resists and HAM will be lower, as indicated, but also the damage output of the beast is going to be lower.
As for price check, well, depends on how much the CH who can call it doesn't like Dathomir, I guess. I avoid the place because I loathe the lighting, but the Force compels me to make trips there (darn Village), not to mention my bank account (enraged rancor lairs are great for CH XP and cash, not to mention tons of resources from the untamable brutes). The days of selling rancors to novice CHs are long past; once the cert system went into effect, there was no longer much of a market to sell high end critters to n00b CHs for 50 to 70k, because they didn't have the skills to call the beasts anymore. I remember taking over a GSH for a friend who gave up CH, and it sat in my datapad for a week or two before I had trained high enough to call it after the cert system went into effect.

Best thing you can do it Give your Rancor Away.
Why?
here is what you do. Find a Novice CH Someone who can't call it. Give it to him. This will help encourage him to get MCH. Which is always a good thing.
Just my 2 cents. I give lots of pets away. They are to valueable to be sold.

I do the same thing. Gave a graul away this weekend to a novice CH. I got given a rancor when I was a novice and so I try and keep that going.

I do the same. I just can not pass up a good baby. I like to give away TMB's and Webmasters. I have given away Skreechers and Thune Grassland Guardians. I usually have something good for most levels of CH and usually give them something when I train them or their pets.

Exactly .... everytime someone asks me to teach CH , i give them a free pet ... what do i need 22 pets for ?? They are always very thankfull, and i just love smiling people 
And besides ....i ran through rancor ally yesterday, and came across at least 8 babies ......but if it's a bull ... IT'S MINE !!!!!!!!!!!!!! never found one
