Thread: An old CH leaves the profession...

As of this morning I am no longer a Master Creature Handler. I dropped half of the profession to get some points needed for Unarmed. I made it to Unarmed 4 this morning and will make TKM my focus for now. I have a day or two til my mount pets are of age, so I'll be dropping the rest of CH as soon as I can mount them. I feel great about this so far, no regrets. I planned ahead and stashed non-CH pets in place of my 22 CH pets. This allows me to keep and use 22 pets after I drop CH, which will keep me from getting those pangs I know will come. I have a whole new set of little friends to keep me company and a whole line of non-CH mounts. Can't beat that!

I'll be visiting the CH forum still, but much less than I used to. I appreciate you all putting up with my often very opinionated and heated posts; it's my hope that something constructive came of them. I wish you all (and the CH profession) the best in the future. Take care everyone.

Freth, I hear you but I did it just the oposite I dropped master pistoleer first to get TKM, no regrets, I've been having the time of my life....

The only set back I see is the 10K I dish out for a buff that may or may not last 2HRS depending on if I die or not.

I am seroiusly thinking of dropping CH for doctor so I can buff myself, but I know the feeling, as you progress in the TK tree you will hardly miss your pets, for the most part they just seem to slow me down And I'm tired of the Snide comments from TH and the constant whinningabout how as CH'ers are still to strong cause they have pet's with light armor....

Thank you for the kind words.

I agree wholeheartedly with everything both of you have said. When you have people like TH against the profession there's not much you can do to win the CH battle but cry your heart out on a daily basis in the hopes that someone somewhere will hear.

My own health and well-being isn't worth putting on the line just because some schmoe in a position of authority lets his own personal opinions get in the way of doing right for the CH community. When I posted I was putting all I had into it. I wanted people to take notice, to sit up and say, "Ya know, he's right... there's something wrong here and we should be outraged!" Months of putting that kind of energy into posts just drained me to the point of not caring anymore. I feel we're up against a brick wall as long as TH is the go-between.

Then there's the fact that I've felt fulfilled as a CH for some time now. I've done everything I wanted to do, had the pets I wanted. I reached a point where I couldn't go any farther. Having a bull rancor was the pinnacle of CH and when I reached that point (thanks to Relada) I got this mediocre feeling. Is this all there is? With the hundreds of pets available to be I still couldn't see myself as a CH anymore. They've done their job well. CH becomes pretty unappealing once you're out of things to do. Taming a rancor for the 50th time kinda gets boring. I still enjoy the company of pets, which is the one thing I'll never outgrow. That's why I filled my datapad with non-CH pets, so I would have companions--which is most important to me rather than having the most powerful pets now.

My continuing interest in PVP has also played a role in my demise as a CH. I won't deny it. I tried to do my best in PVP with my pets and Pistoleer, but it's not enough to compete--even after the patch. Some of you may think I'm a bandwagon hopper, but I'll point out to you that I've been a CH since the beginning and a Pistoleer. I've always been against trying to be Mr. Uber Template. I don't want to be that way. TK has been interesting to me from the beginning and I've started in unarmed numerous times only to give up on it. This was way before TK became popular as a powerful fighting profession. I've been an avid fan of martial arts movies in real life (I'm talking the real good stuff: Sammo Hung, Yuen Biao, Jet Li, Gordon Liu just to name a few), so it was natural for me to want to be a TKM. I've been putting off trying this profession for so long that I felt it's about time I pursue it in ernest to fulfill another of my personal goals/interests. Of course, my other consideration was the power of TKM in PVP, that can't be denied. I've found out that Master Pistoleer *can* be a valuable asset in PVP once you get past all of the food stacking, the buffs, the drugs; pit me against a profession without enhancements of any kind and I'm a force to be reckoned with. Couple that with a profession like Fencer or TKM and you have a pretty darn good template. Maybe not the most "uber", but that's not my goal. Sure, I want to be viable in PVP... but that's where it stops. I want to be challenged, want the determining factor to be skill rather than stat modifiers.

I'm not going anywhere for the time being. As long as my interest holds out in new professions, I'll be around. My interests are TKM, Fencer and maybe some Polearm. After those peter out who knows? It will probably be time to move on to something else. New content might change my mind and keep me here longer. *shrug*

My first love will always be CH and I will always think back fondly on many aspects of it that made my stay here in the SWG universe worthwhile. You all truly make up a wonderful community, better than any other profession on this forum I think. CH brings something to the table other professions don't, something special we all have experienced and hold dear. Yes, it's only a game, but SOE created something in CH that has a life of its own. I feel it's a fight I can't continue, but with every old CH that falls by the wayside there's a budding CH out there willing to step up and take his place. My time on the CH battlefront is over, but the battle continues.

Onward my friends.

Freth, my friend I will miss greatly reading your well thought out post. It is my hope some day we can win the Galactiv Development War and you will return to our fold. I do not feel as though I am losing a friend because I know you will still be here. I do feel as though we CH have lost a valuable ally and asset to our community. I will always blame Thunderheart for each of the great MCH's that leave the flock. This is his fault and I will make him wear the shame like the scarlet letters his name suggest.

I am greatly saddened but further resolved to the demands that Thunderheart apologize to our community and insures that bugs are fixed.

Freth, you are a gentleman and a scholar, your great looks are only exceded by your infinite wisdom.

/salute
