Thread: Longtime MCH has been thinking......

My fellow CH,

I'm a long time MCH, almost a year now, and I've been thinking -that's usually not a good idea.

I dunno what it is lately butI've been getting the urge to PvP way more than usual. Perhaps it's just cuz I'm surging with the force and that's a lot of energy for one toon. To be honest, I've actuallybeen considering dropping CH. I seriously never thought about it like this before.

Here's kinda the way I see it. Sure I can PvP now but my odds of winning are just very slim. I can drop CH and increase my chances of winning but at the cost of my current favorite profession. Also, if I get Jedi, I'm going to have to drop CH for that anyways, so why wait....why not drop it now and pick up other skills for PvP.

You know what's keeping me from doing it? A couple of reasons:

  • I'm worried that I'll miss it and want it back and the grind to MCH a second time will just not be worth it.

  • I'm also worried that PvP will sux w/o being a Jedi.

  • I'm worried that dropping CH will doom me to PvP only and I'll miss all the old PvE I used to enjoy.

I just dunno what to do.....I love CH but perhaps it's time for a change. Almost 1 year with the same profession.....I dunno.

I dunno if I want you to help convince me to stay or if I want you to help convince me to leave. Hell, I dunno what I want but this has been on my mind lately.

Anyone have any thoughts?

actually, you'll find that after a short time(like 2 weeks at the shortest), most jedi will tell you that pvp sucks if you're a jedi. for many reasons.

Well I am in the same boat with you. I have been a MCH since July 03. I can't seem to let it go. I have dropped many other skills to go to other professions knowing all the time I would never have enough points to master any of them. Like TKA. I would love to master it but also wonder is it worth the time? I worry it will not be. I like being able to heal myself with my small amount of skills in that profession. All I can tell you is this is a choice you have to make for yourself. Me? I have been thinking of just making a new player on a differant server and going that path. Heck if I end up not liking it I will always have my MCH to bring me joy. I know this post is not much help but it's just where I am in the game right now.

Meagor, since most jedi can solo Krayt. I wouldn't see why it would be a pain to get back. Think about the Geo caves. Should be easy to get MCH back in 3 days if you missed it.

On the other hand, I would miss you. We need all the active CH's to stay.

Sign for Hutt Faction here: Hutt Faction

Not against broad changes, just profession specific ones (read as CH) that go against what we've been told in the past.

I also have been a MCH forever, since shortly after release. I am also glowing on that character. I fooled with professions on that character until the grinding kicked in. I think I mastered 12 different ones. I must have hit a number of the Holo ones. I never wanted to be Jedi, but now I am not sure. It is beginning to look like it is going to be required if you want to do any land based content.

I built another character on Bria that I made a MCH/MTK with some medic and some artisan. Mastering TK was a piece of cake, but CH took me about 6 weeks with out doing the serious grinding like Geo Caves. I find that MTK is a great profession for MCH. I hunt rares and the ability to cure everything but BF allows me to roam for days.

I understand that when the Old Man visits, I do not become Jedi. I start the path to Jedi. I will be able to get force powers to enhance my current skills. So, the Devs tell me. I intend to keep CH. I do not think I want to do the long grind to Jedi. With the Devs everything is a grind. I swear they are all Obsessive Compulsives and enjoy doing the same thing over and over.

Hmmm....I'm going to have to look into that a lil further. Thanks for the info.

juggernaut, I can tell ya from experience TKM is worth the grind. It's really not that bad of a grind either. Just get buffed (mind and body) and some brandy and head to Endor. Work on getting the power tree first (all 4 boxes) then pick up the rest. I was getting 200k xp per hour on Endor, just running around killing everything. It's very easy and definately worth getting master. You're sooo much more powerful, IMO.

I also made another char on a different server (mater artisan / master architect) and it was a good choice at the time. However, now I find that I don't wanna play that charachter anymore. But it's what I needed at the time.

Thanks for your feedback.

Thank you for your kind words....I appreciate that a lot.

And this is very good to know. I was worried I was in for a 4-8 week grind to master should I miss it.

I tell ya, even if I bicker with some members of the CH community from time to time, I still think this is the one of the best communities of people anywhere in the game....if not the best. Eventhough it seems that we've beenhit with the nerf bat harder than anyone else, there are still some great ppl here and that's certainly a reason to stick around.

I appreciate everyones comments. I still haven't made a decision yet but I appreciate the input.

I would hold off for a few reasons.

1) If you make Jedi, it will be a long time before you get the xp to require you dropping your skills.

2) In a few weeks we will get a look at the proposed new combat system. We need to see where the profession stands.

3) I think I will be dropping CH if I choose to go Jedi, but not until I have a second character unlocked that can take my pets.
