Creature Handler Archive
Thread: How Fishing made me realize I am not a creature handler.
Since the day I started playing (almost a year ago) I wanted a self reliant, mostly solo character. Just to play for fun, NOT a power player. So MCH seemed obvious.Add to that Master Rifleman and I got what I wanted.
So I decided to go fishing last night, hadn’t done it in a while and I wanted to put some trophies in my house. Now I had forgot weather in the past I had got bait from searching lairs or from Scout forage (which I since gave up).So I began to search a couple lairsto see if I was gonna have to exchange a medic skill for scout xxx1 (forage). In that process I managed to prove to my self that I needed the forage skill to get bait and then guess what- bam! Another Imp search in the middle of nowhere.I guess ive run from too many and they made me overt- sigh-.
This has never happened to me before but apparently I needed to go get covert with a rebel recruiter. To cut a long story short, I decided to risk going to a busy city near by.The NPC theretold me it was going to take an hour for the covert to take effect.NOW I WAS PISSED.The average player these days cannot survive overt near starports let alone ME.While I was trying to figure out how to get back to my house without getting killed, I hear the humm of a light saber.I see two red cons right next to the reb terminal and me, and it begins.
I burstrun and spam Headshot 3. Side note; I knew I was dead but might as well try… I make it about a block and a half away all while spaming hs3 with ap2 acid rifle (DXRb or whatever it is called) I have since estimated that I probably put out 20k to 30k of damage (I’m pretty well caped with that gun) before the Imp Jedi choked me to death. I was amazed I lasted that long and proud of my damage output. Like I said I new I was dead and I’m not whining about the death but, His ham didn’t flinch ONCE. I might as well have been slapping him with a rubber chicken!
Observations and why it saddened me:
“I’m just glad my pets weren’t out - he would prob have killed them.” was my thought as I was being cloned. Now that’s just plain sad that a Master Creature Handler, a skill that requires 107 skill points would be ever be GLAD not to have pets. Can you imagine a Bounty Hunter being glad not to have a weapon, or an Armorsmith being glad not to have a vendor?
Besides they would not have saved me anyway.
-Yet one more reason why I don’t pullout pets in public. I already don’t wear my MCH tag…
-Given thePVE power of Master Rifleman, I rarely ever need my pets.
So last night was the first time that I realized that I am no longer a creature handler.I’m actually a Rifleman with 143 skill points. The only time I am a MCH is when I go out of my way to include my pets (which is fun, don’t get me wrong). I’m not trying to whine, CH is what it is take it or leave it.Heaven knows that other professions need adjustment more than we do (poor Rangers).
Who would have thought that fishing would have taught me so much. Perhaps I am a Master Fish Handler...![]()
I guess the reason I made this post is to see if others have felt this way.
