Thread: MCH looking for a little advice

I don't post very much but I'm looking for a little advice from the CH community.
I came back to SWG about a month ago after being away for a long time. When I came back I finally finished Master CH and Master Pistoleer. I was pretty happy with Master Pistoleer but was bouning around like a nut case when I finally saw that exp bar fill up for Empathy IV. I also have First Aid III and Pharmacology IV this way I feel like a true Veternarian for my babies (I love being able to heal my pets to full with one Stim D and one Pet Stim B)
So here is my dilema. I've started my rare pet hunt, and I swear if I spend one more day in the Riverlands of Corellia without ever seeing a single GPS spawn I will tear all my hair out, sit in a corner and rock back and forth while humming to myself. So the thought occured to me to get Ranger for the tracking ability, hoping that this would help at least find the adult spawns. But the part that makes me double think this is I would have to give up Master Pistoleer and a ton of boxes of it as well, and possibly even a lot of my medic.
Would this be worth it? I know I could grind back pistoleer and medic very easily once I had the babies I wanted, but is Ranger tracking very helpful in at least finding the adult spawns? I don't want to give up my favored professions for something that in the long run isn't going to be very helpful. The only reason I am even considering this is because, MCH is my top priority (I love pets, I have always played a pet class in all the MMO's I have ever picked up).

I haven't been a ch for very long but I'm led to believe that there are sites (like swgcreatures.com) that people sometimes post co-ords for the latest sitings of rares...not sure how frequently they're updated cos I'm only a novice and haven't started my rares hunt yet 
Maybe one of your fellow MCH's could advise if there's a site thats up-to-date ??
As for levelling Ranger, sorry I couldn't comment.

im not sure how useful ranger is, but i honestly believe that somedays, the rares just dont spawn - the great plains stalker and malignant squill suffer from this on flurry, mostly due to the location of player cities being very near known spawns - that might be the case on eclipse too..

I do check SWGCreatures all the time... problem is that you get to those waypoints and there is either a city sitting on top of it... or nothing around the waypoint for 100's of meters. I check waypoints everyday for all the creatures I am looking for and have only found spawns of misc critters for about 2 of them. I have found 2 confirmed spawns of GPS's that have both succesfully spawned them again at a later date... but I hate to "camp" a spot.

yes it is interesting how the spawns work, in so much as some specific spawn points almost always spawn a hight level mob, such as sharnaffs, high level npc's or stalkers...

Well in theory at least, my Ranger tracking 3 ability ought to help.
But to date I've never seen a single GPS on area track.
If you are into huntingcreatures to tame (or sample if you are a BE) tracking rocks.
If you are into huntng for meat/hides/bone then the ranger skills suck SP's from your combat skills likea black hole............... so not recommended.

I picked up the ranger tracking line a while back and kept it for two weeks. (I am a master CH.) If found it to be pretty much useless for finding rare babies.
The only real uses i found for ranger tracking were finding krayt dragons and tracking enemy players during base defense in PvP. I was disappointed overall in how tracking works. It seems like it's not very compatible with the way creatures actually spawn in the game.
The one real benefit that ranger has for a CH is the maskscent bonus, which is significant when you are looking for bull rancor babies.

I have heard from Rangers that tracking works sort of funny, you have to let an area spawn while you are in it and hope that what you are looking for has spawned. I'm starting to think that I will just end up doing what I am doing now, that is flying around aimlessly and hoping to see that lone red dot on the radar, only with the tracking window.
The new con ring on the radar seems to be a big help. I can easily rule out some red dots that I see now as I know what certain things con to me when I am fighting them.
