I'm just coming back to the game after an extremely long absence (I quit before the first player jedi appeared), so I'm feeling really ... lost. As I work on getting my sea legs back, one of the first things I want to do is get a comfortable, robust keyboard setup, but having not played my creature handler, much less SWG at all for months and months, I'm still hazy. What do you use? Any tips, or suggestions?
Also.. Is there a way yet, to train pets with keyboard commands, or do you still have to juggle a maze of mouseclicks and pet commands?

I have a macro for every command, and they are all on my "#2" list of hotkeys... It takes up about all 24 buttons (if you include mask scent and /tame in there).
I don't use most of these for normal everyday usage though. The main ones I use are "Kill", "come" (shouted, because of pets falling behind so much lately), "join", and "sleep". I keep those 4 on my #1 hotbar along with all my combat moves, and some TKA things like meditation and powerboost.
In the past I used to keep "kill", "strike", and "charge", which are my versions of attack, special1, and special2, but since pet specials are bugged and likely to remain so for some time, that was just a waste of hotkey space so I got rid of them.

We're still training through the radial menu.
About the only macro I use is to /tellpet follow me;. Sorry I can't be of more help but, that's the only one I find really useful. I use it (immediately following an attack command) to single pull critters out of a mob. It's also good to have considering some of the pet pathing and following and end-of-combat issues/features we have.
Oh, I do have a /dismount;/tellpet stay; setup to quickly dismount and leave the pet behind while I go shopping or start a fight myself.
I used to use a /dismount;/maskscent;/pause 3;/target petname;/mount; but since CL80 works better around grey agro than masked scent does, I just don't bother anymore. I had a similar setup for /survey but since we can now do that from a mounted position, it is also obsolescent. Actually, I just use /target speederbike anymore since that's what I'm usually riding, and when using a pet I just click on the pet before I hit the command and it's targetted if my speeder's not out... unless someone else has a speederbike nearby.
