Please someone tell me what Embolden actually does, and what is it good for?

It does pretty much what it says in the little quib about it. I use it sometimes. It takes a bit to work so use it before sending the pet into battle. The shift is somewhat minor but a noticable difference in damage taken and damage dealt. It is like berserk for the melee guys.

Specificly embolden is a short term buff for you pet. I've used it to increase their HAM for a short time towards the end of a fight. THe bigger the bet the bigger the buff. (at the end you can see thier stat bonuses peel off just like on players (if you have the floating damage thing turned on.

/emb gives around a 15% bonus to the Pet's HAM stats. this is best used at the begining of a fight as the damage does not count towards the pet's actual HAM. for example if /emb gives a pet 2k of HAM the pet takes 1500 damage before the monser dies the pet's ham bar will show no damage taken when the /emb timer expires. or if the pet is /emb for 2000 and takes 2500 damage the pet only takes 500 actual damage when the time expires.
that is the most efficient use of the /emb command.
/enrage lowers the pet's defenses making it much easier to hit. it also makes the pet damage go up. very useful when doing a pet duel. its of dubious value in PVE.
