These are my results from testing pets against the new disease buffs. Here is what was posted by devs in pub 9.3

  • Poisons and diseases no longer automatically hit, but now have a chance to hit based on their potency. Most current poisons & diseases will affect the target a similar amount of time. The resistance effectiveness of the Poison Resist & Disease Resist Buffs will reduce the chance of being affected by a poison or disease. There will always be a 5% chance of being affected and a 5% chance of resisting no matter how high the resistance or potency ratings get.

  • Added new Doctor Disease & Poison Resistance Buffs.

I saw this and wondered if pets were effected by this update and created this study to find out. First I tested the above point where regardless of buffs the disease strike is supposed to hit based on potency. I found a willing volunteer in BEAST who was willing to endure the plague strike disease of Screechers and Bull Rancor and also the mild disease of the Merek Deaths'head.

    Here is the results:

Screecher on first duel hit within 3 special attack commands. The hit started with 171 tick and went up with +17 increments ending with 271 on the last tick. Disease lasted 8 minutes

Bull Rancor was next and hit with 2 special attack commands starting at 291 and climbing allthe way to 406 per tick before disipating. Disease lasted 8 minutes

I dueled with screecher again because wasnt satisifed with the potency of the first disease strike and hit again within 3 tries. Hit starting at 423 and ticked for 3 times climbing all the way to 474. Lasted only 3 minutes

I wanted to use a pet that both poisoned and use disease so used deaths'head and within 3 times for disease and 5 times for poison hit with both. The disease is very low on the deaths'head but the doc sent me a tell 2 hours later and it was still there lol. it was hitting at 11 each tick.

I was very satisfied after the first test that because the potency of the creatures is 100% they are very likely to hit their target and in all tests saw no difficulty for pet to use their disease special.

Now for the second test which was to find a doctor who had made the new disease buff packs. I focused on disease because my jedi uses a screecher in combat with bounty hunters and was most concerned with how the disease would be effected by these buffs.

Here is the power of the buff: 200 and was a B pack.

I pulled out my screecher and dueled the doctor and with 3 hits diseased the doctor. It hit for 179 each tick and lasted 8 minutes

I pulled out my Bull Rancor and he hit on the first try.The tick hit for 203 and went up to 270 before disipating after 8 minutes.

All the buff did was take away about half the dmg of the disease hit per tick and keep in mind I only hit the subject once with disease. The plague strike pets can hit any category and can disease more and more.

I did not experiment with poison buffs because never use pets that poison in pvp.

Thanks, Milteck. Interesting to see the results of your tests, as the new Doc features relate to Creature Handling.

Keep in mind that the wounds done per disease tick goes up as BF piles up, disease causes BF to make it more potent as time passes. Poison is always the same no matter BF from my experience, and poison does not cause BF.
