I quit playing SWG back in december, just as that big "nerf" hit, thats not why i quit, but I just recently reactivated my account. But i hear the game has changed quite a bit since i last played. I was a 4/3/2/4 CH before and i wanted to keep pressing on to master CH this time around. I still have a couple graul maulers and some of those nice sabertooth cat things (dont remember the name off the top of my head) Anyway, i quit before they had that big BE pet patch so i have no idea what pets are good nowadays. Im pretty sure my GM are outdated as they are just normal GM. If anybody out there can just catch me up to speed and possible give me some advice on what to look for id greatly GREATLY appreciate any and all assistance.
Thank you very much for your time

Yeah, the game has changed quit a bit, but not quite the way it should have.
Jedi run around en masse because the saber TEF is no more. A few "dungeons" have been added.
The combatand GCW revamps were put off until after the release of JTL, which more than likely means next year.
Jedi are getting tons of attention. The way to FS is being changed to badge/quest based. Everyonewill be able to be FS, with FS skills, but not necessarily being Jedi.
BE's are the one to go to for the best pets. Wild tameables, such as the Graul Mauler no longer have armor, and many of it's stats were brought down. CH's do well in PvE (when supplimented with a combat profession) and get decimated in PvP no matter how good the pet. Buffs and armor are outta control, and there is a thing now called "solo groups."
Well, first off welcome back! Things have changed alot some good some bad. First off, I would direct you to swgcreatures.com. They have a nice advanced search engine that will allow you to look for all tamable creatures in specific level ranges. I would say that wild pets until you hit master are fairly limited in power. Two suggestions I might make for wild pets are the Swamp Stalker of Naboo, it is CL32 and pretty nice or the Crimson Razor Cats of Corellia. Both of those after the big nerf have pretty good stats and good HAM's/damage.
Second, I would seriously check out BE pets, especially until you hit master, but even after that I mainly use my BE pets for hunting, but occationally use my GPS or Gurreck to hunt smaller things or just for fun. The BE system has been boosted quite a bit. It is a very complex system and many different outcomes are possible. The two main advantages I see are they can put their dna in any "skin" or model so if you like cats you can get any type of creature stats put into what they call "skins" during the final stage of crafting. Second, they can min/max their creations to really focus a pet on what you are looking for. An example would be you can get CL32 pets that have Light Armor and 60% Kinetic resists, vulnerable to everything else with 300plus damage. So as you can see they can blow the wild pets at similar levels out of the water if you are maninly interested in PvE. I would suggest checking out all the BE vendors on your server, just spend a day wandering from vendor to vendor see what is possible and if any post that they do custom orders maybe shoot them a tell and let them know your situation.
Overall, I still have about a 50/50 to 60/40 split in my data pad of BE pets to Wild pets. I like both but I have found that the BE pets do help me overcome parts of the big creature nerf. It took me a while to get over it but they have filled in nicely. One other nice thing is you can have the BE's get certain specials for you in pets. The best combo I have found for PvE is the Stun/Intimidate combo. You will see a huge difference in the damage they sustain. Well hope that helps.
