I was hunting on Dantooine today, collecting a butt load of carnivore meat, using my new Ranger Tracking III skill, I was searching and searching.

After about an hour or so, I hit the area track and found Thune Grassland Guardians. I knew these were hard to come by, so figured what the heck. I went in and killed both the adults that were there, pulled back and waited. And waited. And waited some more and nothing. I figured it was a bugged static spawn and went on hunting.

I pulled out about 300m and did my tracking again and started scrolling through the list. Huurton, huurton howler, PIcket, Picket, Thune Grassland Guardian (baby), Picket Longhor...... *blink* *blink* Yep a baby, and I grinned, he was more than 50 meters from his daddy.

I tossed on my taming/maskscent clothes and jumped in. Well, first time didn't take. Second time didn't take. Third time...AGRO!!! NO!!!! I hit it once, with out a vk and almost killed it. I started hitting peace and started running. Finally broke agro.

Again, with out maskscent, I tried to tame. First time, nothing, second time, nothing, third time, AGRO! Again, peace and run.

I figured, one more try, I'm gonna get this SWG elephant. I go in, tame, steady...... Good....er....boy..... Don't bite me.... AGRO!!! DAMMIT!! but then I see those pleasent green letters, "YOU HAVE TAMED" YES!!! turns out I got too close to a Fierce Picket Protector.

Either way, I'm happy, and I"m glad to announce (Dumbo) is living happily with in my data pad right now as we speak.

Like I said, it ain't a rare, but man, it's the begining of my list and I'm happy.

Congrats! Technically maybe not a rare but hard enough to find that I've yet to see a baby It's a good pet. Andyou gotta likeRanger Tracking III. Most of my pets I found using it. (Finished the Hermit Quest due solely to Tracking IV - about the only use for Tracking IV though )

you can use /peace BEFORE you're aggro'd, so you don't automatically retaliate when they(babies) spaz on you.

Sweet! Good job!

And, what I do before each tame is this.

Put on my (newly made yesterday) +24 to taming sage's hood,

Mask scent (even if they aren't aggro )

Hit peace, and unequip my weapon.

If you really want to be safe from accidently killing the babies (I'm TKM too so I use this all the time), I suggest grabbing some low damage ranged weapon that you aren't certified for and equip it before you start to tame the babies. That way if they agro you won't accidently kill them.

Hehe, it doesn't do much good for a TKM to unequip their VK. They can do just about as much damage without it as with it
