Thread: Best Pet for Tanking?

My friends and I love NS hunting, well one of my friends is a CH (i think he's halfway to master) and I was wondering what the best pet for tanking NS would be? The pet doesn't need to do much damage, just have really good defenses. My other firend is a master Doc, so he can heal. And i'm a Master Swordsman, so i can do all the damage.

Thanks in advance.

Any pet, even a BE one would get smashed to pieces in seconds by a NS elder. You are swordsman, tank it yourself and have your doc heal you.

I am a MCH but the reality is the best tank out there is a AR1 60% kinetic resist BE pet which would still die easy, and thats even assuming the NS didn't pull a power hammer or a non kinetic weapon.

Hi there.

Im taking up CH again after being a MCH previously. The reason I am taking it again is to help hunt NS Elders.

I just bought, from my friendly local BE, a pet with 100 stun and 100 blast resist. In theory, if an elder pulls out a stun baton or power hammer this cat should be able to tank all day long. And as these two weapons are the ones that cause swordsman the most problems, I reckon it will come in quite handy.

So dont let anyone tell you CHs are no good at tanking elders. Sure against kinetic dealing ones they wont be, but against the others they should do fine.

And the kinetic dealing NS are the ones your melee buddies like to kill anyway so if you are in a group it should be fine.

Havent actually tested my pet yet as I am still on my way to master. Will let you know how it does.

Thanks for the tips guys.I know since I am a swordsman I can tank, but I'd rather have a pet tank so that my armor doesn't get screwed after every hunt, and so i can focus more on damage dealing and not defense.

See, the way i'm thinking is I have a Master Doc. friend, he can buff all 6 stats on the pet which will be the tank. Since the secondary stats will be buffed too, the pet will regain H/A/M much faster than usual. This will help said pet to tank much longer than usual, and have 2.2k HAM on-top of the HAM he had already (which will be about 11k) so total that's almost 14k HAM.

I figure that will be able to tank for awhile, atleast against a PH or stun baton weilding NS.

This is a good idea, right?

Sweet! There's only one critter that could have been the donor for that and it's a lair boss. Making the critter wouldn't be the tough part of the job, getting the DNA for it would be. This is an example of BEs and CHs working together

It certainly was my friend!

I went out hunting the lairs and getting the boss to spawn. Then gave my BE a call when I had found one so she could come in and sample.

Took three boss spawns to get enough DNA. Im a master rifleman and was fully buffed so I went through the lairs quite easily. The really hard part is getting a lair on the mission terminal to begin with.

This is very cool. That really is a "special" pet you got there. A result of good teamwork. I would love to try making one like that...

Yea, that 100% stun/Blast is really cool. What boss spawn was this? and what CH lvl is the pet?

That pet would REALLY come in handy for those pesky sutn baton NS

hardest pet to find and worth millions to a true CH

The boss spawn is the insane mantigrue berserker. They come from deranged mantigrue lairs.

The CL is 50 and is an exact copy of an insane mantigrue berserker. Check swgcreatures for the stats.

Not only does it have light armour and 100 blast/stun. It also has 50 kinetic/energy. Its a really cool creature and I cant wait to tame him.

By the way I have got to say something to all those guys that say buying a BE pet just isnt as fun as taming your own.Grouping up withthe BE and going after the lairs to get the right DNA for her, was the most fun Ive had as a CH in ages. Clearing the spawn and keeping her alive was lots of fun. I highly recomend that if you like this pet's stats, to approach a BE and try to make a deal.

Most good BEs that make creatures are CHs also. Which leaves no real room for combat skills. I offered to help get enough DNA for two pets so we could have one each. Maybe other BEs would be interested in this.

Cheers matey, but she is a he

And yup was good fun, always better to play in groups imo

And for the record I've made another pet (one for myself this time) and got enough IMB DNA to make another two pets
