Thread: new pet bug involving ranged attacks

I seem to have discovered a minor but still significant bug. When I was letting my mountain dewback have some fun attacking stuff while doing a meatlump spawn at tyrena (which I'm doing right now), I noticed that if the creatures I had it attack were out of raneg for me (more than 65m or so), the dewback ran towards it, but stopped short and acted like it was using a ranged attack, but dewbacks have no ranged attacks, so it essentially didn't do anything, but after a few instances of that, it went to melee mode. I've also noticed that when I'm in range, the pet goes to melee mode immedeately.I've also checked it with my Desert razorback and it does the same thing. I'll have to check with my other pets.

Pets checked so far:

Mountain squill, natural tame, no ranged attack: acts the same way as my dewback

Graul Mauler, natural tame, no ranged attack, doesn't act like he has ranged, goes straight to melee no matter what.

Graul Mauler, BEd, no ranged attack, acts the same as the natural GM.

BEd CL 10 Bantha Mount, no ranged attack, acted like he has ranged attack from the start and did it the whiole way from the starting point where I said attack. but went to melee if the target was in range of me.

Mountain Dewback mount, natural tame, acts the same as the bantha

Pets of all kind will often seem to stall if the MOB you are attacking is further than 65 meters. Often at around 75 meters mine will act like they are going to melee the creature then turn around and come back to me. This is still better than previous when pets would disengage totally from their target when leaving a certain radius.

Its definetly better, although mounts apparently are bugged for sure since they act like they have ranged when they don't. Which is a little more serious than with regular pets.

I have similar problems and so far the way I have been able to make it better is to order the follow command to me pet and immediatly tell it to attack again and that seems to fix it 'most' of the time

Yeah, I am also experiencing the issue where pets will start to close on an enemy... but then stop moving and "stall" unless ordered to attack again. I'll passthis along to the Devs.
