Thread: Pets using up mind

Hey all,

I'm sure you've noticed that your pets seem to use some mind when attacking after recent publishes. It seems to vary from fight to fight and pet to pet on how much they use. I had one fight where my pets minds got all used up. I don't know if that meant that they couldn't attack anymore because I didn't have time to notice during the fight and the fight went on for a long time so the combat spam scrolled off the top of the page. Anyone else have experience with this or have theories about why this is happening?

Thanks.

This is as designed from the Publish 22 changes:

Profession: Creature Handler

  • All triggered Pet Abilities will now have Action & Mind costs for the pet.
  • Ranged pet actions will now have the same Action / Mind costs as melee pet actions.

Yeah, the weird thing is that the pets I'm using at the moment don't have any specials yet (besides their old preCU ones). I saw those patch notes and I thought it might have something to do it but I'm still confused.

If these are pre-CU pets and you haven't taught them any abilities since the recent revamp, then they shouldn't have any specials at all. The pre-CU specials should be gone too, unless we're talking about one of those few rare pets that seem to have area attacks. What specific species of pet do you see this with, and is it wild or BE?

I've noticed this as well. My BE Gurreck ran out of mind but continued fighting. He's got aggression trained, but I don't see how or why that would use up mind.

Anakin: Master, I think my lightsaber is getting dull. Its not doing nearly as much damage as it used to.
Obi-Wan: O.k. when we're done showing the youglings around the temple, we'll stop by the bazaar and you can buy a new crystal. I hope you've got a couple million credits saved up for this.
Anakin: WHAT?!!?? I don't have THAT kind of cash!
Obi-Wan: Well you could try sharpening it on these younglings. I've got a headache and all their questions are driving me NUTS!
Anakin: hmmm.... Sharpen my lightsaber on younglings...... hmmmmmm.....
Obi-Wan: uh, that was a joke Anakin. I'll spot you the cash for a new crystal THIS time, but next time you're on your own.

I have 2 BE gurrecks aswell as a level 69 BE falumpaset post pub22 without any abilities trained that use up mind while attacking rapidly. They aren't ranged either. Against a BH elite mark mind gets drained before the fight is over.

I havent really noticed on my recent tamed pets but my main Pre-20 pet is a BE pet with no special abilities yet and it uses up its mind pool and sometimes its action pool fairly quickly during a fight. When I look at combat logs its nothing but default attacks yet the mind was gone during combat.

The pets I refer to are preCU BE pets that have some preCU specials listed on the datapad examine window. The skins are razorcat, narglatch, and gurnaset.

All attacks use action and mind. Comparatively the amount of mind is small. However most old BE pets had a miniscule amount of mind, and okay amount of action, and a huge amount of health.

What you are probably seeing is that the small amount of mind these attacks use (we see a percentage but it still has a point value) gives a greater percentage drain than action.
