Hello all, Was wonder whats the best way to get CH exp? I found out when you buy a grown creature and use it to fight you only get 1 exp, But when you Tame a baby and send it in the very end of the fight you get about 540 exp.

I know taming you recieve 100-120 exp Training 100-120 exp...

any help would be alot of help!

I read somewhere that your pet lvl should be close to 2/5 of the target mob level?

So, for your common novice cu-pa -- lvl 14? You should be fighting mobs of lvl 35.

I had a Female Plains Tusk Cat and was soloing red dinos (big bronto looking things near Tyrena) for about 500-580 ch xp each! That was the best combo I've ever found. When I use my Greater Sludge Panther against storm troopers, I usually only get 380.

I'm sure it's been said before but with your thread title many will come here to find the answer... so, for the record, here are the ONLY TWO WAYS to make xp in CH.

Generally accepted as the "fastest" way to build xp in CH, is the T-T-R method. Tame, Train, Release. 1. Go into the countryside. 2. find a baby anything. 3. tame it. 4. train it every command you know. 5. release it. 6. have your lowest level pet finish off the orphan.... that's 100+ xp for tame, for each command, and as well for the mercy killing. I get ~1500xp per TTR.

The alternative method, which is slightly less agrevating for carpel-tunnel sufferers, is the "use a pet of an apropriate level" method. Most creature handlers will not take long to notice that their level 20+ tank, err pet, gets 1 ch-xp for killing yard trash near a city. What many DO NOT realize is that if you use a creature that is at (or below) the level of your prey you get really nice ch-xp for the kills. As was mentioned, a pet with HAM ~1000 will probably be your best all-around choice for a low-end pet. (I'm using a dalyrake with ham 750 and a skyk with ham 900 as my lowest level pets right now.)

I really would like to think it doesnt need to be said, but the average post around these parts shows an amazing lack of critical thinking so I guess I'd better spell it out... To get combat XP there are a few cavets to be aware of. 1 - you need to be withing 30-40 meters of your pet when the prey is killed or you dont get any ch-xp. 2 - you need to be within ~40 meters of your pet for it to hear and respond to commands. Your pet needs to do *SOME* damage (as far as I can tell, as little as 1 pip of damage will do) but there's no policy that you have to tank your pet into a bloody pulp to get xp, so learn to fight smart... if the ultimate CH experience was to command your pet to attack then sit and watch this would be a VERY boring profession... so work as a TEAM with your pet(s). And obviously, if you don't and your pet gets incapped, you get no ch-xp while it's down for the count. I'm sure I missed something, so flame if you want, but there's the basics on ch-xp.
