This has happened twice already, Tamed a graul mauler and it wouldn't accept the name i wanted and the same goes for my newly tamed kwi guardian. So what am i doing wrong or is it a bug?

Did you try other names? It is possible that the name you are trying to use is not allowed in the game. Once I tried to name a kaadu "bathan", it did not take it. Maybe it was too close to "bothan"? Oh well...

The name filters are a little silly at times. Some words go through, others don't. For example a mate named one of his pets 'tw*t' and it stuck. Think we spent a few minutes giggling and licking it until we got bored and changed it to something sensible.

One question, are you trying to name on the first time a command is being trained? It may just be that the command is not sticking, aggro pets play the difficult to teach game until the command has been trained once successfully.

I can vouch for names not sticking I usually fully train a pet then train name one we had trouble with was "Dice" the owners name was slice so he wanted slice and dice tried everyway to name it (n'dice ndice dicce) would not take so as a joke after an hour I named it duma*s and that stuck he was happy with it so SOE's name filter is really picky about the weirdest stuff

Dice Ibegon is the Florn Lamproid (looks like a giant eel) in the Mos Eisley cantina scene from ANH. The name filter will generally not allow you to use the name of any character from the Star Wars fiction... including lessfamous EU ones. Even as part of a larger name (you probably cannot use "Bathan" because it contains the subword "han" a.k.a. "Han Solo")
