Hey, it's the rare pet collector himself, Tivo.
How goes the Bull Rancor/Frenzie Graul hunt, my boy? ![]()

I've recently taken a keen interest in the rarer babies - particularly the cats, which I've always been fond of. I have a Plains Hunter from way back (whom I bought for a small fortune, right after they stopped having babies and the guy who owned her couldn't call her anymore because of the new (the first new, if you remember that far back hehe) CH tree). She's always been my favorite, but I've always wanted a Swamp Stalker to go with her. I recently learned that Swamp Stalkers are tamable, but extremely rare. I decided it was time to get her a Swamp Stalker partner.
Last week, I ran around for two days straight seeking Swamp Stalkers on Naboo. I'm pretty good with them, most of the time, and know their haunts on my server. Six 'lairs' and 20 Swamp Stalkers later, I got a baby to pop. Tamed him first try. Luck, it seems, was with me, as I've heard of people looking for weeks without success.
I decided to set my goal on something bigger, then: the Great Plains Stalker on Corellia.
Now, it must be said that I have NEVER seen a Great Plains Stalker in the year I've been playing. Ever. I've heard of them, but know of them through reputation only. Far as I was concerned, they were Unicorns. I looked high and low specifically forGreat Plains Stalkersfor a week and didn't see anything - I was starting to wonder if they were extinct on our server, as everybody I'd talked to hadn't seen any in a long time, either.
So last night, I was riding along on my faithful Giant Carrion Spat with my Gurreck behind me, tabbed out reading something on swgcreatures.comSuddenly I hear that distinctive 'sludge panther/razor cat roar' and tab back in to see my Carrion Spat near death, and *two* Great Plains Stalkers tearing him a new one.
I hop off, and one GPS runs back to the spawn zone - about 150m behind me. The other one drops my faithful mount like a toilet seat. I sick my Gurreck on it, but it aggros on me. Fortunately, I was already wearing full composite (minus boots & gloves), so I managed to live through the event, though a bit scarred as my health/action are only 700 each.
I healed up, and petstimmedmy mount, who hopped up and had fortunately avoided a deathblow (I think he was as glad as I was). Whew! No more games with him - he goes back into thedpad.
I ran back to the other one, who was still there, and had just finished tearing apart a lair of the zebra-looking falumpaset-type critters.I send my Gurreck in on him. This battle goes much better.
Literally seconds later, BANG. Baby pop.
Fourth try, he aggroed on me. I ran away from the area - new nests were spawning around, and I didn't want him to aggro on something and get himself killed - and returned after spamming /peace so I wouldn't hit him. Came back, first try, tamed.
And we lived happily ever after
Moral of the story: Don't give up. Your luck will change, eventually. I've never been lucky in baby pops, but the last seven days have been my lucky break. Dare I test my luck on Bull Rancor lairs...?

Cool story
The GPS is the only rare creature that still out there that I would like to tame. So far am still looking and can honestly say the GPS is the most agonizing of rare creatures to find. Unlike the Bull Rancors they have no lairs or missions so with the GPS I have only looked in areas where I have seen them on Radient and no where else taking about an hour search then move on to other things
Stay safe
Milteck the Beastmaster
Radient
I saw a Great Plains Stalker once, in the first month of the game, out by the Nyax place.10 seconds after it aggroed on me, I was back in the clone center.
Great story, nice tame!
I've seen a couple, usually when out sampling. But they sample my hide better than I do theirs, so I avoid them.![]()
