First off I'm sorry about the double post. I accidently hit enter.
I have a few questions I need you're help with.
#1 Ranged Attacks--To my understanding it's works like an on/off switch(correct me if I'm wrong). Is it a set distance that determiness the type of attack(ranged or melee), or is it dependent upon the pet.
#2 Special Attack Macro--I have a lvl 28 dewback. It's special are 1-dizzy and 2- strong poison...the macros works for the dizzy 80% of the time but the Poison never works. Do I need to change the pause time or something else.
#3 Do any pets BE or non BE that do an AOE attack..like a Krayt Dragon?
Thank You for any help you're.

1) Yes, the ranged command is supposed to be a toggle. It only works for BE pets (or droids), and from what I am hearing, it only turns the attack on. The pet will move to stay in ranged combat.
2) Poison, disease and knockdown do not fire upon command. Most others do, including the area effect versions of these.
3) BE pets cannot be made with area effect attacks. Gaping Spider Recluses have poison spray (poison). Mantigrue Screechers and Bull Rancors have plague strike (nasty disease).
They are no longer tamable, however a few handlers are lucky enough to have either a King Merek with poison spray or a Queen Merek with open wounds.

I've never encountered a bull rancor, but I have felt the wrath of a mantigrue screecher's disease strike. Hit my M pool and nearly killed me. It is devastating. Darn good thing we had a dancer hunting with us; she saved my life that night.
